2018 Yankees Thread...

move Gleyber to short? What a gruesome twosome (defensively) on the left side.

From MLB.com ...

"While Gregorius is out, the Yanks will likely use Adeiny Hechavarria to fill in at shortstop -- as was the case for Monday's series opener against the Rays -- with Gleyber Torres potentially seeing time there as well."

Pray for Didi's wrist :)

Did something happen to Hicks tonight? I see he came out after 2 AB's. Or did Boone just give him a rest?

I wonder if we will ever get to the point where an organization will permanently handle a pitching staff similarly to how the Yankees did last night. Nobody goes through the line-up more than once in a game. One would have thirteen pitchers on a roster that can throw hard and never have to learn a third pitch. Five or six guys pitch in a game. Each guy can empty his tank. Teams would no longer have to sign starting pitchers to risky long term contracts. Ones’s best pitcher could potentially impact three games every five days instead of just one.

I don't love it.

Interesting thought. No one can throw an inning every day, or two innings every two days, for an entire season.

Isn't that pretty much what Tampa has been doing this season, other than Snell?

If inninings were equally distributed, the pitchers on the roster would average 3.46 innings every five days.

When pitchers become a consumable commodity, no one will want to be one because there will be no money in it anymore.

I do wonder what the future of pitching looks like. The pitching motion is reportedly an unnatural act for the body. Pitching underhanded is supposedly more healthy, but I am not sure that anyone will get a baseball to average over 70 mph at 60 feet.

Seattle with the walk-off in the 11th.

Magic number now 2.

The entire Boston series could be absolutely meaningless. Which is a good thing in many ways.

For both teams. The Sox could pull some dude out of the stands for an AB.
