2019 Yankees Thread...

No chance at a WS championship if we don’t get a front line pitcher. Can’t count on Severino this year. I’d hate to give him up but the most dispensable top player we can afford to trade is Didi. Go get a front liner for him.

I think you’re right on Didi. Torres was great filling in while he was out. I think he’s in his contract year though and would only be a rental for some team which likely reduces his trade value. Plus he a great cliubhouse guy.

I’m not worried. This team just continues to be better than the team in the other dugout. I have no reason to think that will change.

The much destroyed Cessa gets the game ball today.

I understand your point, however this team has hung in there as a team through so many injuries. This team is one. Everyone has contributed and there's great glue in the clubhouse. Yes Torres can play that spot, and do it well. But trading Didi this year would likely cancel away a lot of that team unity. Especially after everyone knows he was terrific taking on the toughest job in recent Yankee history - replacing Derek Jeter. Besides, they're going to get Stroman for couple of prospects (hopefully Holder is one of 'em). Just IMHO, if course.

You could make a case for Voit, too. He's been a rock for this team

Gleyber and Ottavino deserve to be on that team.
The problem for Torres is that he is at the top among second basemen in terms of production and value (nearly identical to LeMahieu), but he is third or fourth among shortstops.

Voit has been excellent, but he is really the third or fourth best first basemen in the American League.

Encarnacion could have made it at first base. He played a majority of his games there in Seattle.

Voit got squeezed by the only Seattle representative Dan Vogelbach

Didi is also the only Lefty power bat in the lineup, assuming Greg Bird amounts to nothing. They said on the broadcast yesterday the Yankees had the most right handed ABs of any other Yankees team in history.

I also love him in the clubhouse.

I would rather trade one of the OFs like Frazier for pitching
