2020/21 Olympics: Tokyo

I always used to enjoy watching weight-lifting from the Olympics or on ABC's Wide World of Sports. It grew out of favor on US Tv due to the lack of American contenders, (we used to be a powerhouse back in the 50's), a wave of steroid scandals and the lack of appeal to the female audience. It's hard to find now. Fortunately, it's on You-Tube..

I therefore give you the strongest man in the world:

The medal count is an inevitable thing but also deceiving because different sports give out different numbers of medals. swimming and gymnastics give them out hand over fist while the decathlon champion can only get one. The bottom line is that a large country should get a lot of them as they can be a measure of the opportunities we are giving young people to excel. But that can be deceiving, too. Maybe we need an academic Olympics?

We wouldn’t lead the medal count there, that’s for sure.

A great showing for SU on the world stage

Somewhere, Myer Prinstein is smiling.

(It was hard to smile for a picture in those days - it took so long...)

Watching women's cycling on the Olympic Channel. They are cycling with only 1 leg! Wow that's impressive. Talk about strength in the one leg they do have.

Really more impressive than the fully operational Olympians we watched a couple of weeks ago.
