Dino comes in at 42 making $3.5... There are definitely options out there if it comes to it

Actually, Dino is 43. Franklin (Penn St.) is listed as 124th but gets 7 million as "school pay." Maybe he teaches basket weaving?

Gilbert was making $800k at McNeese and came here. I'd guess we're paying both of our coordinators $1M.

I'm pretty certain that figure is much less than 1M.

Gotta be money funneled his way outside the base salary
He gets a lot from the Under Armour deal if I remember correctly, probably paid through NBC as well if I had to guess. I'd be shocked if he's taking home less than 7 million

In 18/19 football brought in 43 million, one or two million per year for a coaches salary shouldn't be a hard thing for them to do. It shocks me how little a HC's salary is in the grand scheme of things and yet these schools penny pinch the most important position. They acted like firing Shafer and eating his money for one season was some huge thing. Maybe if Buffalo had to eat a salary like that it would be a big deal but it isn't for us. Regardless of what happens with DB SU needs to stop penny pinching the most vital and important position in the athletic department.

Also for anyone wondering why ND won't join a conference, in 18/19 football brought in 115 million, while clemson took in 61 and FSU 68 million respectively. No way ND is joining a conference and throwing away that kind of money.

Article below if anyone wants to read it.

You’re acting like they bring in 43 million and have no other expenses. Many football programs around the country are in the red overall for a reason.

Sometimes it's about more than money. Syracuse is obviously a step up from Mcneese State.
Gilbert had already been a P5 OC and White had just been promoted to DC at Arizona State when Cuse hired him. Neither move particularly made sense for either unless it involved a pay raise - hence my assumption on the $1M figure.

I can definitely understand that assumption. I didn't know what either was making before, but 1M for a coordinator at SU just isn't in the cards.

GASP! You mean ND’s real motivation for remaining independent isn’t a pure, unselfish desire to remain true to their fans and their age old rivals? It’s about MONEY???? I’m shocked. Shocked I tell you.

Yeah but for most if not all P5 teams their football programs are what keeps the other sports alive because they make so much.

Syracuse is having no issues with money for football, trust me, it’s a cash cow for them…

The exception being last season and this season with not getting people through the door…however, I think next season they start their full court press again on filling up the dome

I'm Googling around, and I can't find that $800k number, so maybe I'm mistaken. I did find reference, though, that Cuse offered to match the $900k that Mississippi State gave to Zach Arnett.

To your point, not as many coordinators in FBS make $1m as I thought, so perhaps my $1M assumption is too high - but there are indications coordinator pay is in the very high 6 figures.

Brian Kelly ain’t robbin the piggy bank to pay the electric bill. Dude’s getting paid.

I had trouble finding that $800 number for his McNeese salary after you mentioned that also. I found a $180K base salary but I'm sure there were incentives and other things in his contract, but I couldn't find a final number either.

There is no chance McNeese was paying their HC 800k. Look at the MAC salaries. A FCS in LA is not paying their HC more than MAC schools are. 180k is MUCH more realistic.

Agree 100%

I don’t disagree at all. I think If people saw the balance sheet though they’d be surprised the yearly expense of aspects of the program. Things that just cost an insane amount, like travel and things they wouldn’t have thought about needing to spend $ on.
