2021 College Football Preseason QB Rankings: All 130 FBS starters

#95

there has to be 65 QBs on there Dino shouldve been able to recruit.

including Gabriel and McCall in the top 10.

this offense has done nothing but sputter.

Dungey was apparently smoke, mirrors and bubble gum & glue for this offensive offense.

Remember after Tommy’s first couple appearances some people wanted him to be the starter over Dungey?

he looked great back then.

i dont recall anyone wanting him to start over Dungey, but im sure there was.

personally, i was sure as all hell pumped for him to start in 2019.

i still think he can be good, but he cant come out of the gate with L's.

giving Dino a pass has become as common as snow impacting the commute to a hoop game.
Giving Tommy a chance. Imo Dino’s QB recruiting doesnt deserve a break.

This is literally all the board was clamoring for back then. Especially when Tommy came in to win the UNC game in OT. That started the majority of the chatter.

I do remember there was a big thread then. The good part was Dino stuck with his Senior QB and Dungey ended up playing IMO his best game as a SU QB vs NC State

This is true. People were especially emphasizing TDs accuracy and pure pocket passer expectations against ED. It was almost anti ED sentiment.

The OL made the maginot line look like Thermopylae last year, gotta be improvements.
Wouldn't it be the other way around? They certainly didn't fight at a level far exceeding their limited #'s to the dismay of the enemy, with some success. Although, if you are referring to the ineffectiveness of the Maginot line, and then removing the majority of the troops? Ok. Thermopylae, is about far exceeding the odds. There is a reason the Greek army still uses "Then We will fight in the shade", to this day. Apologies. I love that stuff. IF only we looked like Thermopylae. Lol

Dino has to fix the offense.
It can’t ever be close to as bad as it was last year again.

That Louisville game still pissed me off how pathetic the offense looked and performed that day.

I get we aren’t winning NCs or competing for them but we should be able to win 6 games more than once every 5 seasons.

I like Dino but this season is on him. The assistants are an extension of him and he has been given resources to get it done.

Im saying if we’re looking at protective structures/obstacles… the OL was so ineffective it made the Maginot Line seem formidable.

If I had to compare our line to a historical occurrence it’d be either the British loss of Singapore or the Union army’s, and spectators, flight from Manassas back over the Potomac to DC following the first battle of Bull Run.

im sure i took a ton of pot sots at Dungey, he wasnt a good QB.

just look at that tweet from mid Oct of that year, 4 NFL QBs and 1 who never sniffed a shot.

it was apparent who he was, but i dont think removing him wouldve been the answer. it played out correctly, he did his thing till he hurt himself, Tommy came in, won some games, had some wow moments and gave us all false hope that he would take them to another 10 win season in 2019...while Dungey got all the deserved glory and Wins.

the thought was, this offense was built more for Tommy's style...

That was clearly wrong.

We have not done good at qbs recruiting until last year.
The main struggle was Amie leaving. I remember Ed saying that he felt Amie was better than TD.
Clearly saw something we did not in 2018.
If Amie had not left TD would have been replaced and probably transferred out at this point.
When Amie left there was not any real backup to win the job.
It will be interesting looking back at all the qbs threads after the season to see who was right in their opinions of the qbs.

Amie can't get QB minutes at some random CC nobody's ever heard of.

But, he was gonna be our QB savior here??

Please.

The OL has been bad since Dino came here. Marrone had his cons, but we could run the ball consistently when he was here and that wasn't so long ago. I hope we do well this year, but if not, I think a staff of Marrone, Tony White, and Nick Monroe would be very good.

Are you seriously saying Dungey wasn't a good QB?

Not sure it was talent versus a grade issue. Never really landed anywhere after he left.
