2021 Yankees Season

Hal Steinbrenner: “We’re not going to get down. We’ve had tough losses before. We’re going to do everything we can to win, win, win.”

Hal Steinbrenner said that he will “absolutely consider” exceeding the luxury tax if the Yankees need another piece to reach the playoffs. He used the Masahiro Tanaka signing as an example.

On firing personnel in-season, Hal Steinbrenner said that his father “certainly did that a lot. What people forget is that a lot of times, it didn’t work.”

Hal Steinbrenner: “Am I mad at what I see? Absolutely. I’m aggravated, frustrated, angry. But that’s not going to push me into a knee jerk reaction.”

Hal Steinbrenner said that he is not "contemplating or even thinking about" the #Yankees being sellers ahead of the Trade Deadline.

When Hal was asked if the Yankees need to make the playoffs for him to offer Boone another contract, he said, “It’s July 1. I’m not going there.”

Hal Steinbrenner said that he is "just not worried" about Gerrit Cole's recent performance, despite the crackdown on sticky stuff.

As someone pointed out above a poorly constructed team built on all or nothing sluggers and injury prone players. Throw in some poor drafting and development for good measure. If anything Cashman should be on the clock.

I think the tacky ball is a good idea.

I don't see this situation as a disaster though. Teams were warned at the beginning of the season.
I guess the Miami condominium collapse is a disaster, but when arguably the best closer in the game is giving up leads that are setting records and you pay a guy 300 plus million dollars and he turns into an average pitcher it is quite concerning.

No they won't. He won't be pitching against LSU. And in my daily prayers, I hope the Red Sox take neither Vandy pitcher. Of the two, I do like Leiter more. But I don't love him. The Red Sox have Tanner H., a former 1st round pick who I love. Last fall, in the big leagues, 3 starts vs three playoff teams = 3 wins. And Sale. As for the Sox rotation, which 2 are junk? Richards, yes. They can win with any of Nathan, E-rod, Nick or Perez. They need to muddle through the next month. Right now, their bull pen is money. 12 wins in June.
Yeah Leiter pitching in the bigs this year ain't happening. I've heard Boston likes the catcher from Louisville. Always a crapshoot. They took the HS kid (Broome) out of NJ a few years ago in the first round and he has been a disaster between injuries and performance.

Broome was the highest rated pitcher in the draft since Kershaw and he fell to the Sox at 12. That should have told them something. His dad got arrested for a big drug deal. It's too early to write him off but there were red flags all about with the kid. He got tossed out of IMG.

Pittsburgh Cole was still a good pitcher.
He wasn’t a 36 million per a year guy but it’s kinda obvious watching how many pitcher would go to Houston and have their spin rates magically go off the charts.

Chapman has always had control issues.

Yankees are really only one hot streak from first place.
That's CR level trolling. Bravo sir!

Are we talking about Groome?

Yeah my bad. Jason ("Jay") Groome from south jersey.
Wait, so i just copied you??? That somehow either makes it better for me or worse. I can't decide which one. I know everything about the kid except spelling his name right? LOL

I was kinda serious as you guys aren’t that fair out of first.
But fair enough.
I don’t consider the Yankees close to dead yet.

Whatever happened to his dad in regards to that drug bust?I looked but couldn’t find anything on the outcome.

I don't know but that was a really big drug bust so I doubt it went away. I couldn't find anything either and that was 4 years ago.

Yeah it was, but at the time the kid was supposed to be the real deal and maybe the Sox and their pull might have helped it go away.

No chance. First, it was in New Jersey, I think. And even if it was in Kenmore Sq.. they don't have that kind of juice. No one does. Not a hefty drug charge.

Bill Cosby showed what money can do.

Love the optimism, but I think the Yankees best chance of making the playoffs this year is to get traded to the NL East.
