It isn't just over his last three outings. I watch the yanks and the Sox every day. Chapman has been bad over his last 9 outings. Going in to today, his era over the last 8 outings was over 17. His era right now, for the season, is close to 5. That isn't a all-star for a closer. That stat was from YES. I root for the American League. He is a wasted spot. And it takes away from someone who deserves to go.His last 2 outings have been a complete disaster. The one before that wasn’t good either. So, no I wouldn’t have him close right now. Something is clearly wrong. Physically or mentally or both.
His first 23 games might be the best stretch of his career. On June 20 his ERA was still under 2 (one bad outing). Turns quickly when things go bad.
Keep him off the All Star team, fine with me. He could probably use the break. But to think his whole season has been bad because of his last 3 outings is something an anti-Yankee fan would probably jump on.
