How many parks were they playing in?How many parks are these homers in ? One ?
And throw in a fan throwing something (a ball) at Verdugo. I wouldn't take the field tonight if there isn't added security. No place for that in any ball park, including Fenway. I am actually surprised it doesn't happen more often. This is in no way a shot at the Yankees who were just as upset as the Red Sox were at this. I mean really, what kind of idiot does something like that? Don't they realize that the Red Sox have moron fans and the Yanks have to go to Fenway next week? That game was garbage last night.
The game had no business being played, some of the calls were a joke.
No more complaining about the Barnes Strike zone anymore after those awful check swing calls last night.
The game was called when the raining had stopped.
It was a little league game 6 innings.
Fan should be banned for life from all MLB parks, but if Im the Yankees i would be all in on the Red Sox not taking the field idea. Maybe let everything cool down and play in a couple weeks. And throw in a fan throwing something (a ball) at Verdugo. I wouldn't take the field tonight if there isn't added security. Yes, I want more 7-inning doubleheader games! Maybe they can go to extra innings, too!Fan should be banned for life from all MLB parks, but if Im the Yankees i would be all in on the Red Sox not taking the field idea. Maybe let everything cool down and play in a couple weeks.
It was a joke. Don’t know if ya noticed but Yankees are dealing with some roster issues at the moment.Yes, I want more 7-inning doubleheader games! Maybe they can go to extra innings, too!
Didn't know that. Who's out?It was a joke. Don’t know if ya noticed but Yankees are dealing with some roster issues at the moment.
Who’s on 1st!Didn't know that. Who's out?
I was in the center field bleachers for the Red Sox Yanks 78 playoff game and this asshat yankee fan tried to throw a hard rubber ball at Lynn before the game. My friend knocked his arm so that ball went off harmlessly. any fan that hits a player should be charged with assault and battery. That would put a stop to that.Fan should be banned for life from all MLB parks, but if Im the Yankees i would be all in on the Red Sox not taking the field idea. I think idiots will be idiots no matter what the consequences are, but they should at least spend the night or two in lockup.I was in the center field bleachers for the Red Sox Yanks 78 playoff game and this asshat yankee fan tried to throw a hard rubber ball at Lynn before the game. Earlier this year, a Boston fan threw a bottle of water at Kyrie Irving. That fan was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. No charges were field against the Yankee fan. He was just ejected from the game. That isn't near enough.I think idiots will be idiots no matter what the consequences are, but they should at least spend the night or two in lockup.
From what I understand the bleacher creatures were egging the guy on to throw the ball back,Im not excusing the stupidity of what the idiot did, but I can see something going wrong in that environment.I have no idea if it was his intentions of hitting Verdugo or just threw the ball aimlessly back in the field.Earlier this year, a Boston fan threw a bottle of water at Kyrie Irving. He led MLB catchers in passed balls in 2017, 2018 and 2020 despite being nowhere near the top in starts/appearances. His passed ball #s have improved noticeably this year and for that he deserves credit but he was bottom of the barrel prior to this year. While the stats make this very obvious, casual observation from a decent amount of NYY games would have led one to a similar conclusion. Btw he's thrown out 2 of 26 baserunners this season.False
ESPN would dedicate multiple segments on their hot take shows if a Boston crowd every does anything like that.Earlier this year, a Boston fan threw a bottle of water at Kyrie Irving. They got it all backassward. Thursday's game should have been played. Last night they delay the start nearly an hour when it isn't even raining then play in a driving rainstorm for most of the six innings played. Very fortunate that somebody didn't get hurt during the deluge. That game was garbage last night.

Not maybe. You just can't throw a ball and hit someone in the back. Some kind of suspended sentence where he is not allowed at any stadium and if he is caught there, the suspended sentence becomes a real sentence. From what I understand the bleacher creatures were egging the guy on to throw the ball back,Im not excusing the stupidity of what the idiot did, but I can see something going wrong in that environment.I have no idea if it was his intentions of hitting Verdugo or just threw the ball aimlessly back in the field.
Look how many Home run balls are tossed back in the field and luckily nobody has been seriously hurt by that stupidity. Maybe they should charge the guy with a crime.
I don’t disagree, but they should enforce the same thing for all the Yahoo’s who throw Homer’s back. Not maybe. You just can't throw a ball and hit someone in the back. There’s way more to catching than passed balls and throwing guys out. Plus just counting passed balls, like counting errors for a shortstop, is an incomplete representation of a player’s defensive value. He led MLB catchers in passed balls in 2017, 2018 and 2020 despite being nowhere near the top in starts/appearances. What I found online is Sanchez is ranked 50th in framing. There’s way more to catching than passed balls and throwing guys out. Plus just counting passed balls, like counting errors for a shortstop, is an incomplete representation of a player’s defensive value.
Pitch framing is now recognized as the most valuable defensive skill a catcher can provide. Sanchez is not great at it, but he is adequate.
As I said before, I’m not claiming Sanchez is a good defensive catcher. I’m saying he is adequate and certainly not a disaster or “scary.” The metrics back that up.
All of us are terrible at judging defense. Fans and media talk about Gleyber Torres as a defensive nightmare, but he is actually a better shortstop than Derek Jeter ever was.
I’ll post what I find later. What I found online is Sanchez is ranked 50th in framing.
