This is going to be a very interesting year for the voters

None of the first year players are guaranteed to get into the HOF. Obviously Ortiz and A-Rod have the stats, but question marks with PEDs. Then the voters have to make the final call on Bonds/Clemens before they roll off the ballot. Then finally Schilling who is quite close to getting over the hump

As a Yankees fan, I have nightmares of a Schilling/Ortiz/Papelbon HOF class, as unrealistic as that may be in real life.

My guess is Schilling finally makes it and the writers will punt the PED era to the veterans committee.

Interesting to think what Prince Fielder's numbers would have ended up wtihout retiring early with neck problems.

This makes me extremely happy.

Tommy John should be next.

But let’s not forget the one man who has continuously been screwed over….Thurman “The Captain” Munson.
Yes, not enough statistics for Munson unfortunately and he was my favorite player. I saw him at an auto show in Syracuse in probably 1975 or 76, he signed my scrapbook with all of his newspaper clippings. I remember he had snake skin or alligator skin boots on. He could not have been kinder to me, a young girl that loved baseball.

Just based on a "gut test" - thinking about whether guys were considered the best of their era, regardless of the steroids, speed or other enhancing drugs players have taken over time - I consider these guys Hall of Famers:

Alex Rodriguez
David Ortiz
Jonathan Pappelbon

Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Manny Ramirez

Andy Pettitte would be marginal based on his regular season record, but had a great post-season record and won multiple titles. If that gets Phil Rizzuto into the Hall, it should probably get in Pettitte. Andy also ate up innings like a workhorse from the 1970s or 1980s.

Pettitte has 100+ more wins than losses, but the anti-Yankee bias will be used against him for years.

Paplelbum is not a HOFer.

Absolutely laughable Barry Bonds isn’t in the hall of fame. At age 39 he had an OBP of over 0.600.

0.600!!!

A statistic that will never be topped. Ever. Not even close.
Well he only has himself to blame. He will get in but hes going to wait.

His biggest claim is that he was a Yankee. Grit and a tragic death isn’t enough.
The thing I will always remember are his last 2 at bats: flew out and ground in.

Petite is PED tainted and a product of his team.

So is Ortiz and Manny…to a far worse degree.

And your put down of Thurman is quite embarrassing, id delete it.
Arias is getting in you and you will be pissed.

Schilling is a HOF but I am okay with making him wait for veterans committee.

The BBWAA sucks though and I wish the HOF voting has accountability.

Like the guy who has voted for nobody but Mariano Rivera in the last 5 years.

If you submit 2 blank ballots in a row you gotta lose your vote.

Oh, I have a to of problems with the BBWA for sure, many posted on here.

Schilling is a HOFer.

The top 3 guys on that list - the only ones who are plus-100 - all belong in the Hall.

Do Arias or Bonds get in tomorrow?

Both are close. Ortiz seems like he will more likely.

my guy Barry isn't getting in. Sad. It's a museum.

Laughable... and i mean LAUGHABLE... that Bud Selig is in the HOF, but Bonds and Clemens won't be. Then again, it's the MLB... they don't do much right
