2022 NFL Thread

BTW, as an Iggles' fan, I despise the Cowboys. Even though I think they would have been an easier match-up in the NFC Championship Game, I was rooting hard for the 49ers. Just wanted to see what one more year will do to Jerry's Botox injections.

Plus, I don't hate the Giants. Not since David Tyree's catch doomed the Patriots. That's just me , though...
Giants fan here. I think we can all agree that we hate each other some of the time but we hate the Cowboys all of the time.

Honestly, outside a little good natured ribbing fans of teams I don't care for - that hard-core fanatical side is gone for me. I think the combination of how much the game has changed across numerous sports including SU sports, a lot of the change being negative- its just meh.

I hang onto SU sports a little more still yet but even that has faded a great deal. I'm sure it's age related to some extent but I'm gonna argue it's much more than that too.
Same here….except when the other team’s coach pisses me off.

Therefore my UConn and Philly Eagles hatred has been renewed to levels of my younger days solely because of those two goofballs.

Personally if you hate Dallas with the fire of 1000 suns but were born after 87 then you are just a bandwagon hater. Only those younger saw the true bad, obnoxious behavior of us Cowvoys fans at an age old enough to hate it lol.

The past 20 years we are just mostly a bunch of Jerry Jones haters.

Not sure how Dak comes back from that game. That was all on him yesterday. Complete meltdown.

Cannot cut him until 2024 and even then I don't think Jerry has the cajones to do it. The moment Romo lost his starting job due to injury Jerry tied his cart to Dak. He is too stubborn to see that after 8 years it is going to happen. He will go to his deathbed on this horse.

Lol back to a serious note- I agree - Dak is out there saying they will be back and it's all on him but I mean you only get so many mea culpas and as hollow as it was last year it is even more this year. He didn't just read things wrong, he threw balls in situations it wasn't necessary all the while missing open receivers all night in favor of tougher throws. He was effectively playing like a freshman/rookie QB the moment things got difficult. Not to mention bad throws even on easier routes.

It would appear from tweets that he has lost Parsons and Lamb. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I would wager everything I have nothing changes. They will all make up and it will be yet another disappointing season with Dak at the helm.

You nailed it. I no longer live and die by either SU hoops or any of my professional teams.

Yeah I've got that too being in NEPA but they have calmed down quite a bit. Generally speaking I find more fun in the Eagles - Cowboys back and forth than with the Gmen fans.

As for a serious note, I think that the SF game will be very interesting. Yesterday should have been Purdys first loss as a starter and a learning exercise. Instead, thanks to the generosity of Dak overall, Purdy, who played fine but also was pretty tentative until that TD drive, got to see what the next level takes while also having his team win.

The Dallas defense and speed was a major issue for SF most of the game. I don't think Phillys defense matches up as well and expect SF to have more success on that side of the ball. Now that works both ways as I expect Hurts and his mobility to hurt SF more. Dak had lanes to scramble several times and he did not. Hurts will, and he has the speedsters to go over the top of SF which is their one minor weakness on that D.

After SF, the thing about Cincy, is that since they got over their early season lull- Taylor seems to have a Belechick like approach in that they find different ways to win. Statistically there is nothing special about them but they have a big 4 on offense that rivals anyone in football, along with depth at RB. On defense they scheme up a plan every game to make it difficult. They simply have figured out a path to winning every game they play and also have the playmakers to execute and make enough special plays to get it done. For that reason, I like them to win it all- without any disrespect to KC , Philly or SF. Also- as for the AFC, as good as Mahomes is healthy, not having Hill to scare the secondary into leaving underneath stuff open brings them down a notch from their title team.
Yeah I don't think picking Cinci to win it all is a crazy idea. They're well coached, particularly on defense and Burrow is very impressive.

Philly's calling card is that their OL is the best in the NFL imo. Then it just depends on Hurts making good decisions and leading a balanced attack. The defense had a couple of games where they allowed ball control and couldn't get off the field. But they're almost at full strength and well rested. The Philly pass rush is even more dangerous than Dallas and I think we have a better secondary. We'll see.

Not to quibble but Dallas was literally playing guys off the street at DB. I would hope Philly's secondary is better!

All the early money on the Bengals as they are now a one point favorite.

Shocked the Eagles are only 2.5 point favorites.

I hear ya. I was just trying to counter orangezoo's point that Dallas somehow has the superior defense and would put more pressure on Purdy.

That's not what I said or was trying to say. It is about the speed and matchups. Dallas has more speed especially at LB. Matchup wise it's tougher for what SF wants to do which was evident until Purdy finally settled in some. Not at all a slight on Philly.

Overall even more than that it's just scheme. Also by pressure I don't just mean sacks or QB pressures, I mean pressure and difficulty in general with the looks he got. Had Dak not been as useless, by the time Purdy had settled, it would have been a two touchdown lead.

Yeah I guess we'll find out Sunday afternoon.

As Guinness mentioned above, the Dallas secondary is an issue. That's not the case with Philly. The other big advantage is that Philly has tremendous depth across the DL, more than anybody else I've seen this year. Brock Purdy may well lead SF to a SB title for all I know but he'll face a very hostile environment like he's never seen before and a relentless pass rush that hopefully can force him into mistakes he's largely avoided this year.

One of the things lost in the shuffle off the loss was Bosa getting absolutely shut down by Smith. I don't think your guys will have much trouble next week.

Yeah Bosa is a monster but he tends to have one approach - bull rush. If a team can neutralize him that can go a long way toward beating the Niners.

Man, Panthers fans, if such things exist, should probably be pretty underwhelmed.
Clearly they didn’t hire Wilkes cause they are racist and Reich is white. The owners would rather hire the worse coach and lose because of their hatred of minorities.

So 15 years after trading for the Packers last over the hill superstar qb the Jets are looking to do the same thing again just to go 9/8 or 10/7 and maybe be a Wild Card.

The irony of the NFL is that in NO other league do players get by on name / rep alone well beyond their actual usefulness AND at the same time in no other league does your usefulness deteriorate more rapidly.

This concept that Rogers will go to a team with weapons and elevate them from sub-playoff team to superbowl contender is just not true. Yet only a few brave talking heads will have the gall to point this out because frankly it’s good for the league to have the idiots just buy into the talk

Pats gonna draft him to be McCorkle’s backup
