2022 NFL Thread

I'm not one to revel in (gotta look this one up) schadenfreude.

I'm nothing if not a 'win with class, lose with dignity' type of guy.

So I'm gonna go over to the Cowboys' fan board to, you know, commiserate with some people who are hurting big-time right now. Butt-hurting. They need love...

For some of them it's almost Lakers season

I'm sure you do. That said Eagles better enjoy that SB for a while. Ain't adding to it anytime soon.
lol the NFC looks wide open this year. Never want to overreact to one game but some of the traditional conference powers have issues.

Even before Dak got hurt I wasn't expecting much out of Dallas this year. They did very little to enhance their squad during the offseason.

Football. The only sport where whatever you did to get yourself in position to win, you do the OPPOSITE to close the game out. Folks, there is a reason why all these games end up regressing to coin flips. These people, despite their supposed embracing of analytics, would rather lose making conventional decisions, than win making unconventional ones

It is playing not to lose instead of playing to win. Atlanta was the prime example of this. Defense is getting shredded all 4th quarter and NO only needs a FG to win. What does Atlanta do? Punt on 4th and 1 where the first down ends the game instead of giving the ball to Cordarrelle Patterson.

The NFC east might as a whole might have the worst 4 staring QBs of any division. None of them are any good.

QBs in the AFC South are nothing to get excited about. There are lots of teams with mediocre QBs.

I'm not a huge believer in Jalen Hurts but I'd bet the Birds finish in the top three in the NFC in terms of points scored. He's got a great OL and solid weapons all around him. Just has to be a game manager and they'll do fine.

If Dallas is rolling with Rush- Jerry is full on tank mode to get Sean Payton.

What would be interesting would be to see Rush come in and do well. If he could make the offense go when Dak could not.

Or the Panthers being content with a go ahead FG with a minute left. And Rhule is supposed to be a modern coach..
2minute drills are to the point where even below average QBs are probably at least 50/50 to get into FG range with a minute left. The only hope is usually some sort of turnover. I think Garrapalo in the nfccg game last yr was the first time in 5yrs I've seen a team turn it over on downs at the end.

Interestingly this is why the analytics guys say you should kick the pat to tie with a minute left (the one time they recommend less aggression); because the other team will be stupid and be more conservative in a tie game. But glad it worked out for Daboll anyway.

He won't hesitate that is one thing.

So Pete carol went and did I it . The never in the history of NFL change the spot challenge

Bad enough when they challenge a spot where you can’t see the ball. Even worse when you challenge the spot and the replay makes the spot look good. Why blow a TO?

Denver coaching down the stretch was brutal. Clock management awful then ask your PK to nail one from 65 instead of trusting your franchise QB.

Nate Hackett…..yikes.

Marrone Coaching Tree.

Denver and the Russ era off to a great start. Lose to Geno Smith starting two rookies on the O line and a defense missing Adams due to injury.

Dumb ass decisions between Hackett and Wilson
They would rather take a 64 yard fg attempt than a 4 th and 5 that would put them in legit FG range ? Why do you bring in Wilson if you trust him so little ?

Very interesting time/field position spot there actually. Their kicker has a leg so it’s worth a shot at that kick, and if that’s the plan of course run the clock down.

That was very interesting. Welcome to coaching!
