2022 Yankees Season

At the time, the biggest problem we had was Hicks.

What a difference a month makes.
But the guy won’t be ready to play for a while. It didn’t address the need for replacing hicks.

Nobody thought the entire team would quit hitting when trade was made.Bader was brought in for playoffs

Best case scenario, that still seems like a risky trade to me. Injuries in the starting rotation should be planned for. Monty was a good, but not great pitcher. Trading for a non starter who MAY be ready for the playoffs doesn't seem like a good trade to me.

The team is obviously in a free fall. The only silver lining to this is that if the team bows out in the first round of the playoffs, perhaps Cashman is FINALLY shown the exit.

I seriously believe whether the Yankees win the division or not comes down to todays game

Montgomery was 3-3 and 3.7 something when he was traded, so he obviously wasn't the next Ron Guidry. But he was a solid left handed starter, and those don't grow on trees. But it seems there was something more going on with that trade, that it shocked everyone somehow?

He was a solid middle of the rotation guy and seemed set to play that role as a Yankee for years. Compromising your rotation depth is never a good idea, especially in this era of more brittle pitchers. It's hard to believe that move was a popular one in the clubhouse as well.

I'm still a fan, but they're unwatchable now. Have been for about 6 weeks. They're all trying to hit HR's chasing the pitches they want rather than hitting the one thrown. It's not unlike after beating the Red Sox 19-8 in 2004, when they swung for the fences every at bat and took themselves out of the series. They look at hittable pitches in the zone, get behind in the count and make outs chasing pitches off the plate. The only players who hit the ball where it's pitched are Trevino and Benintendi, and sometimes Rizzo. And now Rizzo and Benintendi are on the limp. I'm not watching anymore until they change.
Was playing poker yesterday and still asked the staff to put the Yankees on a TV. I'm a masochist.

Just perusing the standings and noticed that Baltimore, the team that's just out of the WC spot by 1.5 games is only 7 losses behind the Yankees. If this funk continues it's not a stretch to imagine the Yankees free falling all the way out of the playoffs. Here's the remaining schedule starting Labor Day: 3H Minnesota, 3H Tampa, 2@ Boston, 3@ Milwaukee, 2H Pittsburgh, 4H Boston, 3@ Toronto, 3H Baltimore, 4@ Texas. God help us if they don't have a berth secured by the start of that 9/26 series in Canada.

I confess to having it on but muted while following the SU game on live stats.

It does help that the teams chasing the Yankees will all be playing each other.

NY probably has the easiest remaining schedule of the AL East contenders. Only 10 of their remaining 28 games are against TB, Toronto and Baltimore. TB has a very difficult schedule - 19 games against the AL East, six games with Houston and three on the road in Cleveland. Also 17 of their remaining 31 are on the road where they're a below .500 team.

I think Baltimore is going to make the playoffs. 18 of their remaining 30 are at home where they're playing .620 ball. They've been getting phenomenal pitching, their bullpen is lights out. For them it will come down to their remaining ten games with Toronto, they already lead the season series with them at 6-3.

Falafel batting 5th. Boone knows he'll get some good pitches to hit with the mighty Hicks behind him.

Bizarre challenge by Boone, what is he doing? Offense again non existent

Yankees set MLB record “9” for catcher interference in a single season.
