I've now seen Florial make two plays in two days that leave me scratching my head as to why they gave up a solid, left-handed starting pitcher for a defensive centerfielder.

One hit. Last year he hit okay in limited opportunities. With very small samples both years, it seems too soon to decide a once highly regarded prospect can't hit.

Apparently the Yankees decided he couldn’t hit or they wouldn’t have traded for Bader. Florial looks lost against big league pitching every game I’ve seen him.

I was told Joey Gallo could hit, also. Look, when the deal was made, all the talk was about how Bader would play CF to take that pressure off Judge. If that's what they wanted, they already had that with Florial, without giving up JM. His bat can't be any worse than Gallo was, or Donaldson, Gonzalez and Higgy are. Donaldson plays every day batting just over .200. Don't even let me get started on Stanton.

I'm certain Cashman thought Bader would play this year, but I'll be surprised if he even suits up. I mean, it's September and this team needs a spark now from somewhere, anywhere. If he was going to be ready anytime soon, we'd have heard something and I don't believe we have. At the end of the day, it's about results on the field. Florial is making a contribution in NY, JM is doing very well in StL, and Bader's watching TV. It was a bad gamble.
