2023 Away Games, My Ranking

The ‘24 game at West Point was going to be so perfect for me to go to…until I realized that it’s my twin nieces’ birthdays that day. Hopefully they move the game to a different Saturday.
You have almost 2 years to work that

We have some great games coming in 2023.

I hope to plan 2 or 3 of them for tix buy and tailgates.

Without knowing the dates (except Purdue)...these are my top games in desirability at the moment. It'll certainly change by next summer.

1. @VTech, need to remind them we are still their rival and give them another L.
2. @UNC, haven't played there since 2003 (2020 doesn't count), close game for Piedmont based fans, tailgating kinda sucks though.
3. @Purdue, Sept 16th we owe them for the Cecil Howard game, 2022 wasn't enough.
4. @FSU, we have had too many close losses to them. Would be higher but Tallanasty is in the middle of nowhere.
5. @GTech, stadium reminds me of old MacArthur Stadium (that isn't good), ATL traffic sucks
I can help for @GTech. :)

The Braves are playing the Washington Nationals in Atlanta the weekend of September 30th.

It would be nice to get 2 baseball/football doubleheader road trips in one season.
The area around the Braves stadium is very nice.

Don't forget that you'll be back here to kick off the 2025 season. ;)

Against the current #1 team.

Hopefully we can represent well.

It sucks that there isn't a single road game within 500 miles. SU shoulda pushed hard to split BC and Pitt.
And move the supposed rivalry game with BC from Thanksgiving week with no students, at least one team with nothing to play for and ice covered bleachers on the road to Labor Day weekend when enthusiasm for both teams is at its peak and the road trip every other year is much more attractive!

UNC is a definite. One of my best friends lives in Chapel Hill. Got some good feedback on the Manning Lot for visiting tailgaters. Worth checking out if anyone here is from the Triangle. If I drive to NC, May fly to Purdue. Especially if our initiative with Enrique and Rhino is renewed next year. If I fly to NC I may drive to Va. Tech. We were just there, but great trip and, depending on timing, might hit Virginia Beach the week before. Saving Atlanta for 2025. And FSU will get the call some other year.

I miss playing BC in October. So many of those games had nice weather. I rather we end the year at Duke or at Wake who neither have an end of year game.

why are we at VT again already?
New scheduling plan with 3-5-5 kicks in next year, so we play everyone at least every other year. Would have expected them to come here, but we play our 4 home games against teams that we are playing on the road this year.

VTech would pair nicely with some Civil War battlefielding. Follow Lee's retreat route from Petersburg/Richmond to Appomattox, and then shifting gears to go due west to Roanoke/Blacksburg. I hope the dates work out!

Some good info here:

Any general idea what ACC schools its easy to get an RV tailgate pass for? I assume you have to look on stubhub/craigslist kind of hard.

I have to purchase a 25-30' trailer mainly for work to park near the plant I sell for 7 months a year I don't want to live there so would like to do 1 FB game annually with it.

Direct flights from Syracuse to Chicago for the Purdue game.

Chicago is a great city to visit in the fall. Lots of things to do and great eats all over the place.

The White Sox are in town. Let's get Chris Elmore to headline a big tailgate before their game Friday night (if he is not still on the team). Maybe get Jason Benetti to emcee.

Enrique Cruz's Cub fan family may make a reluctant appearance?

Bring ear drums to West Fayette. Their train whistle is the reason 95% of all Purdue fans are deaf. Not sure why so many only wear overalls. Not a good look.
You lost me at "White Sox."

Atlanta would be my top choice by far. I used to live there and haven't been back in 20 years. I hear that it's changed a lot.

FSU has an easy option.

Yeah I zeroed in on that lot. Probably where we would set up. Thanks for the link

UNC probably moves to likely...if the date works for me.

Just 5 next year.

We need to have only 5 road games most years.

We are kinda screwed at this point for 2024. Waited too long. Amazing that this keeps happening. And 2025 is essentially 6 roadies. Then in 2027 we already have 2.

Agree. Hope that gets switched someday soon, and it doesn't take an epidemic to make it happen.

On the positive side, 3 of the games are a relatively cheap direct flight awayfrmo CNY (Chicago, Atlanta and Raleigh/Chapel Hill). Okay, you need to rent a car to get to West Lafayette from Chicago but it is almost all corn fields and it goes fast.

Last year I got to Blacksburg by flying into Charlotte. That wasn't bad. I like the Charlotte airport.
Fly to Roanoke. It's much easier even with a connection. Unless you just have to see Galax, Va.

Not always...you have to factor the connection time and the chance you miss a connection versus another 120 mins extra drive each way. Flying SYR to CLT was the only way he could make the game with a Saturday early am departure.

There is truth in what you say. The couple of times I flew Syr to Roa were many years ago when flight schedules were more reliable (seems weird to write that). One time was through LGA and the other through PIT. Both times were seamless connections and were Friday night.
The other thing to consider nowadays is the availability of rental cars is not so guaranteed anymore, even if you have a reservation.
