2023 Maui Classic

I am thinking Las Vegas and I will 100% be there if the tournament is moved there.
I had heard the women will be playing there at the same time in a tournament, although have not heard an update since I first was told about this a while ago.

Doesn't Vegas already have a few tournaments going on. Would they be able to shoehorn eight teams in?

They why I tongue in cheek suggested having it in Syracuse. No conflicts with the playing site. Just possibly with the lodging.

So I posted in one of the travel threads a while back about the wife and I thinking about Hawaii as an option and we were very much looking at Hawaii. Lahaina was in the top 3 of options at that time which ultimately we decided to wait a few more years to consider our next move to be more 2026ish. It's just wild to think many of the homes we saw listed there and were doing virtual window shopping are likely no longer there.

Such a tragic scene :(

Vegas has a tournament that starts the day after the Maui was scheduled to end.

I would guess it might be possible to make dasher's dream come true.

Here is a list of all the Men's CBB tournaments. There is one scheduled for Henderson, NV for six teams.

Honolulu could possibly be an alternative site. No conflict that I see.

Honolulu makes the most sense if they need to move it. Keep it a Hawaii thing and maybe give some of the people that would've nornally worked the tournament the chance to do it there.

I would be fine with this, not a Vegas fan at all. I feel for the Maui citizens and the event organizers as I'm sure everyone is in full scramble mode with the #1 priority the safety and well being of the residents.

I could also seem them simply delaying it a year if the logistics were too much to tackle 3 months out.

Just so unbelievably sad. I saw an article this morning where the death toll had risen to 36. Tough to think about basketball at this point. I was lucky enough to visit Lahaina about a decade ago, and it's beautiful. Wonderful people, too. Sending love.

If it is possible to do it there and minimize the impact of the loss of revenue as much as possible, this makes sense to me.

I would be in favor of moving the event to whatever venue that is available that can raise the most money for the affected area. Hopefully all profits will be directed to help with disaster relief.

Never been to Hawaii. This is shocking to see. Prayers to everyone affected.

Based on CNNs maps it shows the fires still active and uncontained a good 15 miles from Lahaina north. That is very much where the civic center is located... :(
