2023 NYS Section III Thread...

Looks like Victor got punished for going down to MD (they got spanked by Calvert Hall and beat St. Mary's in OT).

Victor also has somewhere around 10 DI commits; I expect them to blow the doors off most Upstate teams.

Victor and Nisky play Saturday at 2:00 at Union College (on an intramural field I think).

Cool that they beat St. Mary's. They got moved out of it and they beat the number 11 team?? Typical disrespect.

Union has 2 turf fields. The football stadium and a satellite field down the road closer to the Casino. Nisky's turf is still being installed and can't take spectators yet so they rent the Union turf.

Victor beat Niskayuna 15-7. Interestingly the trip to MD St. Mary's had easily beat Calvert Hall 13-3, so after Calvert Hall easily beat Victor it was worrisome how they would fair against St. Mary's but they never fell behind by more than 3, kept it close and then tied it with a good 4th and then won in OT. Was a good trip for Victor to play against strong competition early to help them later in the year.

Pool at WG tonight should be a good one tonight.

B'ville looks to still be the top dawg in Section III this year. I wouldn't look too much into their loss to Nisky as it was their 1st game of the year. They have handled everyone else they played so far by double digits (Pool/FM/JD/ESM). I believe they have both Victor and Canandagiua later in season which should tell a lot about how good they are.

Anyone know where Keegan Lynch is committed to for college? I have to imagine the guy would be very highly recruited if he was a few inches taller and bigger.

they got punished for losing stall ball to canandaigua last year. were ranked most of the year before that loss and then returned basically everyone and wasnt even "also considered" until today after crushing Nisky last week.

but they are dealing with lots of injuries.

Cuse only has a pledge from one of their 10 or how ever many they have. Recruiting has been way better under Gait, but wish what little talent was left in Upstate would stay at home.

yeah... I believe that is a 2 way street. Hopefully Jamie/TD can help pave those 60 miles of roads.

I didn't see the game but I know WG complained about Canandaigua's stall ball as well in the state semi's. Nothing more frustrating in a game that should be lightning fast. That used to be Maryland's thing too in Tillman's early years.

NYS is discussing adding a shot clock. One of the biggest sticking points is who’s going to pay for them though. (Then you need someone manning the shot clock.)

sad way to lose what should have been a pretty easy track to the state champ game after a season of pretty much domination. but that CA faceoff guy was excellent and they played by the rules.

What happened to the Bucktooth who is going to SU? Is he injured? He does not appear in box score.
