2023 Yankees Season

Does being added to the 40-man come with a raise?

When players are added to the 40-man roster, they get an automatic pay bump up to $46,000 a year. Players on their second contract get a bump up to $93,000 for being added to the 40-man roster.

If he gets called up to the majors, he gets league minimum of $120,000 a month, even if he's only up for a couple of days.

Me thinks he's out.

All wins are losses if they lead Cashman to mortgage more of the future for a team that would be lucky to win even one series in the post season. ...Sell what you can, including Stanton should anyone be dumb enough to take even half of his remaining salary, and rebuild with younger players who are athletic and can make contact.

Agreed. However, in doing so Cashman basically admits defeat which he will not do. He will mortgage the future in one way shape or form in the hope that the team can sneak into he PS. He can then claim a successful season. This isn't 20 years ago when making the PS meant a lot, especially now with the expanded WC,

(No idea the accuracy)

Could this end up being the best W/L division ever? No idea what it is. Surely another better historically, but never know.

“Divisions began in 1969, and in that span, the best combined winning percentage for a season was .566 by the 2002 AL West.

The latest into a season that an entire division has been above .500 was the NL East in 2005, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. All five teams were over .500 through Oct. 1, the second-to-last day of the season. The Nationals then lost their finale to finish 81-81.”

Listening to Kay and O’Neil, it’s not so much having to use the bull pen for eight outs, it’s the fact that in a tie game you can’t depend on this team to score so you’re potentially putting the bull pen into an extra inning situation. Which leads to overuse.

And just like that DJ gives them the lead.
