Interesting. Let’s hope Hodgson is following the TJ Otzelberger trajectory, who moved from mid major South Dakota State to UNLV for two years and has now turned around Iowa State.

What do you think of the Odom hire?

I really don't know what to think only because I'm really not knowledgeable about which coaches were available, etc. His Dad was one of Terry Holland's assistants before he went to be the HC at Wake and it was believed his Dad would be the coach after Holland left, but the timing didn't work out. A bunch of our fans think that his coming in could help our recruiting a bit because we'll play faster (can't get much slower). People are admitting that part of our problem in the NCAAs was that our slow pace let the lower-seeded teams hang around, when the blue bloods would have long ago put them away and would now have the managers suited up to finish the game. Odom has done well wherever he's been. He's taken 3 different teams to the dance. He was UMBC's coach for that game which need not be mentioned again.

He had a big rebuilding job at Xavier next year with 10 seniors or grad students on the roster this year, 3 starters and 5 of their top 7 scorers.

I'm coming around to the belief that, season to season going forward, a substantial number of programs will be replacing 10 roster spots.

Watching. They certainly play with more energy and defend better. But he’s been running the same iso offense we’ve seen here. Those wanting him and expecting some fancy ball movement type of system are gonna be pi$$ed.

He might not have a fancy system but they have a clear plan. They shot lots of 3 and layups. No midrange just like Nate oats. I do think he runs good sets when needed

He gives off big-time former chubby kid energy. Rooting for another spectacular implosion for him. If you think he got where he did because he’s some brilliant tactician, think again. He might be a decent coach, but he rose quickly through the ranks by breaking the rules. The rumors about his cheating (and gaining an unfair advantage over other coaches and schools) abounded for years before he got caught on an FBI wiretap.
