2024-25 NBA Season / Playoffs

They wouldn’t go anywhere with Holiday either. In Boston he’s the 5th option that is asked to play elite defense and only shoots catch and shoot jumpers. In Milwaukee he was asked to do more than he was capable.
Yeah . What a failure he was in Milwaukee .

I don't think anyone thinks Jrue was a failure in Milwaukee but in between the handful of huge defensive plays that he made, there was a lot of agonizingly bad offense. His TS% in the playoffs was Michael Carter-Williams/Eric Bledsoe levels of bad and unlike them, he was taking a lot of shots.

Thinking that Dame's value in the half court offensively would offset the defensive downgrade wasn't necessarily a bad idea. The issue is (1) we literally never got to see Giannis and Dame both healthy in the playoffs and (2) the rest of the roster is just very bad at this point and doesn't cover up any of Dame's weaknesses.

This also doesn't factor in the weird buzz that Jrue was putting out that he might retire instead of re-signing with Milwaukee. I don't really understand why he floated that as a possibility and then acted like Milwaukee betrayed him by trading him, but yeah.

Nothing like the WWL bringing in Stephen A this morning to talk ball after he spent last night hosting a politics show during said games.

Lol he distanced himself from Griffin so quickly it was hilarious
I just so badly want a coach that will run offensive plays. I'm really not asking for much.

I will give Doc and Kidd credit though; while they were pretty terrible head coaches for us, they are the only two that got Giannis to buy into abandoning his 3 point shot.

If it were up to me (and assuming Giannis opts to stay with the team because I don't want to think about him leaving right now), my objectives for the offseason would be:
  1. Fire Doc. Don't care that we'd be paying like 4 head coaches at once; I just don't know how you can justify bringing him back unless it's a non-negotiable for Giannis. The guy I've wanted ever since we fired Bud (who I didn't really want to fire in the first place) is James Borrego. Absolutely loved the offensive system he ran in Charlotte when he was the coach there and I think he was a finalist when we ultimately hired Bud and Griffin so I know we liked him a decent amount.
  2. Keep Giannis and AJ Green (and Dame, Kuzma, and Connaughton because I can't imagine we'll be able to trade them). Probably keep Portis at least to use as a moveable contract, but we can do a lot worse than him for the money he's making. If we can bring back guys like Sims, Rollins, and Trent on minimum-ish deals, I'm down with that too. If Trent demands the NTMLE, I'd rather let him walk and focus on getting a better player with that money. Probably let Brook (unless he's willing to take a huge pay cut to stay), Prince, and Porter walk.
  3. So that leaves us with Giannis, AJ, and Kuzma as starters (and Portis potentially starting). I would basically focus every roster slot, exception, and draft pick on guys that are good, willing defenders (and hopefully can at least kinda shoot). For me personally, if I have to choose between good shooting and average at best defense or good defense and average at best shooting, I'm opting for the defense and hoping that the shooting gods bless us in the playoffs. I want to get back to being a team that works its ass off on the defensive end and then let Giannis try to carry the offense enough to be a dangerous team. Someone like Nickeil Alexander-Walker or Quentin Grimes for the MLE is probably what I'm hoping for. Other potential targets would probably be guys like Amir Coffey, Bruce Brown, and Tre Jones.
I have zero expectation that we can compete for a title but I at least want us to be a team that fights hard. I would love to embrace the athleticism/size of Kuzma and Giannis and roll with them as our PF and C and just switch everything on defense but I know Giannis is probably against the idea. Something like Rollins/Tre Jones, AJ Green, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Kuzma, and Giannis as the starting lineup with Portis, Trent, and Sims off the bench is probably the best we can somewhat realistically do.

They need to run that AT and T Villanova ad more. They don’t play it enough

Cade is a great player but plays way too nonchalant imo. Didn’t make good plays late.

Now that my Lakers are out it's root against Boston and the Clippers

For the life of me, I don't understand rolling the ball with 35 seconds left just to run it down to 20 and ensure the Knicks get the last shot if they want it.

I'm rooting for anyone's in the west that can beat OKC! I like their team but screw you Clay Bennett!

Steph has been very poor in this half. The Houston D is definitely bothering him but he’s been way too loose with the ball too.

He’s got to be much better if they are going to win this game and series.

S
Draymond is truly a total clown way too much. He just doesn’t get it.
how can anyone root for this clown? He’s a total asshat. It must be really difficult to be a GSW fan and have to cheer this dip on. Curry is the most classy and likable star and it’s as if they had to counterbalance him with the opposite

Houston is the better team, they just don’t have the best 2 players (when healthy and playing well).

If the game is close at all with under 5 to go, GSW will win. Only way Houston wins is if they are way ahead of.

True. If Houston wins though GS is in big trouble imo.

Think so. The fatigue factor will be huge particularly with there only being 1 day between games after game 3

Not even close to being over . If they cut it to 5 with 2 left they’ll win
I mean the rockets I think are better, just expected experience to prevail. They are the 2 seed!
