I think that's still maybe slightly too rich for me; it's really the same case as last season. There are such obvious areas of improvement for him that would put him in the top 5, but he still has to make those improvements to get there IMO. I don't think there's really any reasonable case that he's ahead of Jokic, Giannis, SGA, or Luka right now, so that alone puts him #5 at best. And granted we now have to see how he returns from injury, but I think before the injury Tatum was ahead of him. I wouldn't really fight the idea that he's #6 (or #5 if you're saying Tatum gets knocked down because of the injury), but you could probably make a decent case for guys like Steph, Mitchell, Brunson, etc.
We're really splitting hairs here though lol, but I think people subconsciously boost him a little bit because of the highlights and the personality and shrug off some of stupid tendencies he still has. He's still clearly going to be a 2nd Team All-NBA guy again and is obviously a fantastic player to build a team around.
