2024-25 NBA Season / Playoffs

That's what Ant Edwards is for.

Randle needed to be on a team where there was an undisputed #1. That was never going to be the deal in NY, where he viewed himself at least on the same level as Brunson. He can be a great #2, but I think it had to be forced onto him.

Do you feel like Edwards has been as great as expected so far?
I think he's been good, but not quite great.
Seriously? That's a bit crazy. Back to back WCF for Minnesota. If you don't see Edwards as a GREAT player in the NBA not sure you really watch the games all that much. He's probably the 4th or 5th best player in the league right now. Other than Joker and Giannis, if I was starting a team he would probably be the 3rd pick

I think that's still maybe slightly too rich for me; it's really the same case as last season. There are such obvious areas of improvement for him that would put him in the top 5, but he still has to make those improvements to get there IMO. I don't think there's really any reasonable case that he's ahead of Jokic, Giannis, SGA, or Luka right now, so that alone puts him #5 at best. And granted we now have to see how he returns from injury, but I think before the injury Tatum was ahead of him. I wouldn't really fight the idea that he's #6 (or #5 if you're saying Tatum gets knocked down because of the injury), but you could probably make a decent case for guys like Steph, Mitchell, Brunson, etc.

We're really splitting hairs here though lol, but I think people subconsciously boost him a little bit because of the highlights and the personality and shrug off some of stupid tendencies he still has. He's still clearly going to be a 2nd Team All-NBA guy again and is obviously a fantastic player to build a team around.

I agree with this. My big problem is he doesn't seem as consistent as the players you mentioned. Night in and night out matters - think he will get there, but isn't yet. That said he is still great and this series should be great.

I don't think anyone can honestly say he hasn't lived up to expectations or is not a great player because he is which was the OP. Personally, I do think right now he's top 4 or 5 players

I don’t think ant is one of the four or five best players (I thought he was a little overrated a year or two ago because he fit into the archetype of the superstar 2 guard and people were a little too quick to annoint him) but he’s really good and will probably (?) be a first team all nba type relatively soon

I think Ant has passed Mitchell.

Winning playoff series matters.

Oh yeah definitely above Mitchell. But I couldn’t put him ahead of Jokic, Giannis, sga, tatum, and Luka (right?)and that puts you at 6 at best.

Luka's fat. He needs to find a nice LA yoga girlfriend to straighten out his nutrition and fitness. But yes, he should be above Ant.

Tatum will need to recover from a bad injury. Giannis is ahead of Ant but he's 30 now. His skills and athleticism aren't going to disappear but at some point he'll slow down some.

If the Wolves beat the Thunder that's probably not enough to move Ant ahead of SGA quite yet, but that conversation gets pretty interesting if Ant wins the ring this season, wouldn't it?

It's closer than it seems.

Plus, Wemby is knocking on the door to the top 5 too. I think the Spurs need to get serious about competing now.

I think SGA is better than Edwards. Probably Ja Morant, too.

I really like Edwards, but his advanced stats don't suggest he's a Top 3 player in the league at this moment. Obviously he's only 23 years old and is like 5 years from being in his prime.

28th in PER, 8th in VORP, 15th in BPM, 66th in TS%, 42nd in WS/48.

But this is when greatness is made, man.

They should be ahead by double digits.
SGA won't go 2-12 again this half.
Randle is also unlikely to put up another 20.
Yes, I do expect that different things happen in the second half from the things that happened in the first half.

And now OKC is up by double digits. Minnesota missed their chance to build a working lead that they could protect. This one got away.

Minnesota needs to do the work on offense. Settling for way too many threes. That's not Luka or LBJ out there guarding. It takes work to score.

Might just be as simple as the team that won 68 games, including being in the west, is just the best team.

I'm kind of surprised so many people have picked Minnesota to advance.
