2024-25 NBA Season / Playoffs

Jazz got hosed lol
The teams that got the 1,2,3 picks had a .0114% chance for it to land in the order it did. And Charlotte, Utah and Washington all had a 14% chance to have the 1st pick and they ended up 4th, 5th and 6th. Not sure of the odds of that, but I have a feeling it is lower than .0114%.

Might be time for me to drop the NBA and become a NHL fan again, although I think Kon Knueppel can be a big star at #5 for Utah, if that's what happens.

I just checked the Jazz message board I lurk on here and there.

They're not handling this well.

Several Wizards fans on the message board that I peruse are saying this is the final straw for them after all the suffering they've been through and they're going to take a few years off from the NBA lol.

I am hopeful that Derrik Queen will be there at #6 for them but we'll see.

That's about how it's going on Jazz forum.

I will say, the NBA really doesn't help itself. Maybe this really is just how the lottery plays out, but when you add it all up you don't have to squint that hard to think maybe there's some shenanigans afoot.

Over 500 comments on this Utah Jazz Facebook post and not one that I see is supportive of the organization. Tanking never seems to work.

I do wonder if teams just tried to, you know, be as good as they could be, if that wouldn't be better than tanking.

I've always disliked the mentality that there's something wrong with being a decent playoff team if you're not elite enough to be a championship contender.

Tatum out. Looked serious. A non-contact injury? As he started to lunge for a loose ball? Is that an Achilles?

I still think Boston can win this series. Obviously there’s no margin of error now. This is a legacy opportunity for Jaylen Brown.

If Tatum is done, I think Knicks take this and close it out.

Tatum, while having issues closing, is still a superstar. And he’s toast.

Oh man, Tatum. That’s not good.
Looked like another Achilles injury right? Extremely unfortunate. With the rumors swirling about Boston breaking the team up to some extent this offseason even before this happened, and now Tatum potentially missing all of next season? The East could look a hell of a lot different next season.

League sending a message to the obvious tankers by fixing the lottery.

Also what happened to playoff Jimmy?

Tanking or not is it that out of line that the bottom 4 finishers are guaranteed at least the first 4 picks? I mean the Hornets, Jazz, Wiz, Pelicans drafting 4-7 is a bit ridiculous, IMO. They need to do something. Just doesn't make a ton of sense that the Mavs/ Spurs are getting the first 2 picks.

You want to tank and have the worst record in the league, you still only have a 25% chance of getting the #1 pick but at worst you get the #4 pick which is still a considerable drop off this year, doesn't seem crazy to me.

The Wiz drafting #6 is ridiculous

Then you can’t rig it as easily . The rigging opportunities with the current system are quite plentiful

Yeah certainly looks that way many years. I just think it's criminal what happen to these teams drafting 4-7

Not being argumentative but what opportunities? I personally don't think it's rigged. From what reporters have been allowed in the room it sounds a tad complex, but I don't think it's rigged.

Totally agree re video reviews.

In some capacity, they need to change this. It makes the end of games totally disjointed, last way too long and make the refs the stars of the game, which no one wants.
I've seen some instances where the refs don't even make a call and just go to the monitor.
