2024-25 NBA Season

I've been away for awhile, dropped by to say hi & post about a Kid From Akron who got me so high on some killer bud when I was a young (I’m still young) sportswriter in 1971, and I see the same (yawn) LeBron game-by-game, minute-by-minute analysis.

And this, ladies and germs, is why the shoe shill from a hundred years ago said he could not play in the social media age. LeBron began playing before Facebook & Twitter were created. And if peak MJ were alive today, 40-year-old LeBron were be teabagging his mouth & tongue like it were Syracuse-Tejas in 2003.

And, btw: happy holidays if I die crossing the street because a distracted po-po looking down at his/her/et al., digital device runs a red light.

JJ Reddick with a masterful double speak performance that can basically be translated into "hey I'm a basketball savant, it's not my fault that the team stinks".

Joker dropped 56 last night and still had a negative BPM.

They never would but what does a package look like in return for Joker? Say if he ever says I want out.

Emerging star on their first contract is a start

I think the package for Jokic would come from a team in Serbia. Cause he may just say it, I'm out, but he's probably going back home if he does
He strikes me as someone who may just call it quits after his current contract while averaging 30/10/10 just so he can hang with his horses.

I could see that but it was just a hypothetical - I hope he does get traded to a contender as I think he fits in seamlessly with any team and any style. I also happen to think that if (IF) he had pulled off the Olympic upset and won the gold medal, he had a chance to elevate himself into rarified NBA air with one or two more titles.

What I don't want is him to finish his NBA career toiling away with a franchise who no longer seems to be able to build a roster around him.

Yeah I'm just mostly having fun. There's basically no trade package you can make for Jokic. It would have to be something like a star pretty early in his career plus a million picks. Like OKC sends Jalen Williams and Chet plus picks?

I don't think Jokic ever leaves Denver, don't think he has any interest in chasing rings. I could see him retiring in the next few years and just heading back to Serbia and really never to be heard from again.

One more run on the Serbian national team and I could see him hanging it up. You can tell he is not in love with the US, pretty much any of it. Other than the 50 mil a year or whatever it is :)

BS call by the stripe at end of Warriors game but man - poor shot selection by Steph set the whole thing up.

What a Final Four - Rockets, OKC, Bucks and Atlanta - who had that in your pool?

Hornets are sad. Apparently they asked kids that I believe were Season Ticket holders, create a letter for Santa.

I saw the video earlier of the giving of the gift part. They chose a few kids to come on to the floor during a stop in play... kid asks for a PS5 in his letter... actually gets a PS5 at halfcourt during the break. And then afterwards, they took away the ps5 and gave him a jersey instead.

Exactly what I would expect at the Spectrum Center.

The NBA as a TV entity has lots of issues:

— Partnered talking heads' overemphasis on gossip over actual play and constant sh***ing on great players
— Playoff bloat
— Meaningless regular season (hand-in-hand with above)
— Playoffs turn into a referendum on the MVP
— Nightly uncertainty about stars' playing status
— Playoffs are an injury lottery
— Players don't care about the ASG

I've also noticed that there doesn't seem to be any consistency on when games start. I’ll tune into a national game at 6 and sometimes it'll start at 6:05 and other times not till 6:15 with no explanation. By then I’ve switched to something else. No other televised sport seems to have this problem; I'm shocked that advertisers put up with it.

And that’s before the actual on-court play with teams taking half their shots from three, triple-doubles losing significance, etc.

Nothing used to anger me more than the TNT second game of a doubleheader listed as a 10:30 pm tip that usually wouldn’t tip until 10:45 or later due to the first game running long. Funny enough, even if the first game ended before 10:30, the second still wouldn’t tip until 10:45 at the earliest. I don’t care anymore cuz I’m not staying up that late to watch a non-playoff game, but still really frustrating.

It's one thing when the first game of a doubleheader runs long. Living in Big 12 country I hear it all the time, haha. But for a few years now when the ACC Big Monday game runs long they'll delay the B12 tip maybe 5 minutes and then put it on ESPNews or U to start, so it's small potatoes as these things go. The stuff the NBA is doing is completely avoidable as it has nothing to do with a previous game pre-empting it.

The start of games is just so bizarre. TNT will sometimes have a game scheduled for a 7:00 start and it won't start till 7:15 and sometimes it starts at like 7:02. And there's seemingly no rhyme or reason as to why.
