2024-25 Portal

Anyone know the deadline when the NCAA tells guys petitioning for an extra year that it is granted or not granted?

Not that i am saying we need a miami caliber starter, but if he doesn't even think he can compete next year (hence the transfer), I am not sure he is the answer
Maybe he just wants to leave

This guy is originally from Pittsburgh. First team All Ivy linebacker. Played at Cornell. Probably knows Jackson Kennedy.

i don’t think he can enroll until he graduates in May.

Could be a McCord type situation. Wants a guarantee. Last year of playing football, last chance to make an impact and potentially have a shot at pros. Also likely hearing rumors of high level transfers and feels disrespected. Hard to know all the reason but in this new world it's hard to assume it's simply due to not being able to compete. May just want a bag.

I just came across an article, and these three guys are available via Transfer Portal. They may be FCS players, but the talent is definitely there. Thought about what our roster will need in terms of positions, so they may just be a nice fit. (I believe they can provide depth)

1. North Dakota safety Cole Wisniewski:

While Wisniewski did not play during the 2024 season due to having foot surgery back in August. His 2023 season was superb. Wisniewski was a consensus first-team All-American after having a massive season. In his 14 games during the 2023 season, he had 92 tackles and eight interceptions (led all Division 1 players).

2. Chattanooga linebacker Alex Mitchell:

Mitchell may arguably be one of the best linebackers in the portal. He will make an instant impact with his next team. Over the last two seasons, Mitchell has had 120 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, five pass deflections, three forced fumbles, and two sacks.

3. Harvard center Austin Gentle:

Gentle enters the portal as a top offensive lineman. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound center was an All-Ivy League selection and started 30 consecutive games for the Crimson. PFF had Gentle ranked as the number two center in the FCS. Gentle has reported offers from schools like Coastal Carolina, North Texas, Toledo, and Memphis.
