2024-25 Portal

Important Dates for NCAA Basketball:
March 24: The NCAA transfer portal opened.
April 3: NCAA dead period begins.
April 10: NCAA dead period ends.
April 16: NCAA Basketball Late Signing Day for high school graduates.
April 22: Transfer portal closes. Players don’t have to announce their destination by this day, just tell administration to enter their name into the portal.
April 26: NBA Early Entry Deadline (11:59 p.m. ET).
May 9-11: G League Combine - 78 of the top players were invited to the 2024 Draft Combine. 45 prospects were invited to last year’s G League Combine. Expect something close to those numbers this year as well. Upon conclusion of the G League Combine, a select number of players from that group will be invited to participate in the NBA Draft Combine based on their performance in the G League camp. Anyone not in this group would be wise to return to college if eligible.
May 11-18: NBA Draft Combine
May 12: NBA Draft Lottery fixed in favor of the Spurs.
May 21: Final NCAA Basketball Late Signing Day
June 15: NBA Early Entry Withdrawal Deadline (5 p.m. ET)
June 25: 2025 NBA Draft First Round
June 26: 2025 NBA Draft Second Round

Today is an important day for the future of college basketball. There’s a hearing in Oakland about the house settlement. If approved as expected July 1 becomes another important day because this is when the new rules about booster payments takes affect

Holy crap

I bet there maybe more from these top teams. Looking at the big interest that some top teams are giving portal players can work against them in keeping their own players. Doubt UNC’s disappointment in losing Naithan George helped their cause to keep Jackson. Other teams have probably shook up some veterans where more movement may be seen.

You think there are rules here?

Didn't they just extend him?

Just in December. Wow though did they get him cheap with his initial contract - just $400,000 a year. Increasing it to $1.25million a year extending it 2 years through 2030. I mean that’s a lot of money to me but isn’t it very cheap for huge program like UNC? Bargain payment? Or am I wrong? How much more are those players getting paid or are they?

As a member of the faith and a BYU alum, I find this incompatible with BYU's mission.
They have a strict honor code right? Curious if BYU go wild on basketball and have a lot of non-LDS players if this pops up.

Very strict honor code.

On the one hand, it can be great for a serious athlete. If followed, it's pretty much impossible to get in trouble and you're living completely clean. You want to focus on improving as an athlete, it's an amazing environment.

On the other hand, you're living completely clean. That's not exactly the goal for some college aged people.

Thanks. I find this aspect really interesting. Bound to be several bumps in the road if this is something BYU seriously pursues.
