I won't pretend I know anything about Odum - maybe he's a guy worth considering, maybe we end up getting a good PG elsewhere. But I'm a little surprised at how quickly some people are dismissing him based on his height / weight and his team's record. At this time last year, everybody seemed to be super high on Malik Mack, who was 6'-1" / 170 lbs and who played for a Harvard team that went 5-9 in the Ivy League. (To be fair, Mack didn't exactly set the world on fire for the Hoyas this year.)
But you look at a guy like Chaz Lanier at Tennessee - he played on some truly awful North Florida teams in the ASUN Conference, but is doing well now that he stepped up to the SEC. Or how about a guy like Deivion Smith at St John's - he's listed at just 6'-0" / 175 lbs - is a guy like him too small for SU to even consider? You're telling me he couldn't have helped us?
I get that this is just a message board, and a lot of people love to weigh in with hot take opinions on guys that they've never actually seen play. I just think that immediately dismissing a guy whose stats hint that... maybe he can play a little bit? ... is probably a bad idea. Hopefully Alex Kline is a looking a little bit deeper than a guy's height and weight to determine if he might be able to help us win basketball games next year.
