But they better be the type of guys that are locked in on defense and just don't stop. I want players that are relentless.

Moore does not play defense and now everyone can see it. Maybe someone thinks they can get him to play D.

I agree that his defense is bad, but as a 19 year old, can he learn? I think we should blame the coaches and not the players. Young freshmen are supposed to be taught how to play the game. Pitino is proof of one of the few remaining coaches who deserves that title. He comes up with a system, and in practice teaches and enforces how to play it and hold guys accountable. I’ve said over and over again, that guys who get labeled in our program as not being good on defense, and whether they stay 2, 3, or 4 years, they leave with the same tag as being lousy defensively.

Also, to be fair, the portal has given guys an easy out. If players don’t get the minutes they believe they deserve, instead of committing themselves to working harder and getting better, they just transfer. You can look at so many guys who go that route and most of them do not fare better due to lack of accountability.

Choppa and Donnie to St. John’s. Pitino is a great coach and recruiter and there will be open slots for both guys to thrive.

Need 2 centers. Sum of parts at that position for me. We won a lot of games over the years with that position being physical and that can just do enough with 2 guys.

Agree. I expect several to leave. Sounds like Owen is rumored to go to Marquette or Creighton. Not shocked he is staying in that area.

Bethea’s season didn’t go well and he was expected to be one and done. He too might enter the portal. He isn’t a point guard and doesn’t shoot the ball well enough to be a 2 guard. There’s a lot of work to be done and he can succeed if coachable.

I didn't say they were starters. Both of them could be credible 8th/9th guys on a good team.

Bethea is also a very poor defender. He was almost always rotated out in defensive situations. He’s potentially a good player but he’s not someone who is a tough, hard nosed defensive player. His offense doesn’t coverup for his defensive lapses.

I'll stick my flag in the ground again this offseason.

If a player has negative defensive metrics at a low/mid major, they won't be able to defend in the ACC. Period.

If someone can show me the outliers, that would be fantastic.

The players that have succeeded in the ACC or above from low/mid majors were All-Conference 1st team level guys

Add on to that it’s all 4th year guys or younger vs 5th year guys etc.

We would have a legit low post scorer, rebounder, and defender.
