If NIL under $600 won’t be reviewed by NCAA, then how about we get 5000 fans to pony up $500 each on a coordinated schedule to generate a weekly cash flow to SU players. Come up with some boilerplate nil contract and the donor just fills in their name and future date of payment. $2.5-mil to spread around.

The $600 amount has been recommended, but no final decisions have been made.

Under $600 paid/received in a tax year doesn’t require a 1099 form to be sent from the payer to the payee nor to be sent to the IRS. Imagine that’s why the NCAA chose that figure or it would be much more complicated. Must be $599 or less for tax purposes to be exempt from mandatory reporting. Of course IRS regulations may be in flux or it could change if any specific NIL implications will be ruled upon in the future.

They won’t see the floor at St. John’s with the way they both play defense. Even Pitino can’t fix Moore’s olay defense.
Why are people upset? One was hurt for three quarters of the r year another guy. Can’t defend we need better players

Cherie wins the prize for starting the semi annual Tax Discussion. Tell me more about 1099 forms, please, Cherie.

We’re not recruiting for the zone anymore. Mark Sears is 6’1. Automatic pass?
I think the big difference is Sears is a point guard. Averaged 4 assists before transferring to Bama. While at Bama he has averaged 5 assists. Reaves is not a PG. Don’t want another SG brought in to try to play point. Another potential concern is this will be his 3rd school in 3 years.

A 6ft shooting guard……no thanks
45% from the field, 34% from 3, 82% from the line, 5.5rpg, 1.9apg, 1.7tpg.

but all his underlying metrics were very, very good, defensively too. He was on one of the worst offenses in the country but he was very very good last year.

We woild be silly to dismiss this kid because he’s 6ft. We we will need to fill at least 8 spots . This is the type of kid that blows up. He’s from Syracuse - you can’t pass on a kid like this over say $100K
