A 6ft shooting guard……no thanks
45% from the field, 34% from 3, 82% from the line, 5.5rpg, 1.9apg, 1.7tpg.

but all his underlying metrics were very, very good, defensively too. He was on one of the worst offenses in the country but he was very very good last year.

We woild be silly to dismiss this kid because he’s 6ft. We we will need to fill at least 8 spots . This is the type of kid that blows up. He’s from Syracuse - you can’t pass on a kid like this over say $100K

Both he and Doty if he were to enter the portal should be reached out by the staff

For Gerry’s sake, I hope Doty doesn’t enter the portal.
He is 6’5, 49%fg, 28.3 3 pt%, 80.2%ft, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 steals. 11.3 points.
And he is a freshman . Gerry says he is continuing to improve, a tireless worker.
Reaves is a senior.

Sure if he was being considered as a bench player. He played 35 minutes a game this past season. I wouldn’t think he is looking to transfer to come off the bench and play half that much.

Yeah if this is the type of talent we're bringing in, we're cooked.

I think the sense was Mulvey was unlucky at Iowa. One of the basketball coaches here told me he was behind draft picks early in his tenure, was going to transfer out, convinced to stay, and then got injured.

I have no clue. I just want a competitive Syracuse team. I miss arranging my schedule around basketball games. I forgot they were even playing at times this season.

That coach lied to you. He might have been convinced to stick around but he was never behind any big man draft picks. The Murray brothers (both) were there his freshman year and Kris was there his sophomore year. They were draft picks but didn’t play the same position.

I watch every Iowa game like I do every Syracuse game. Iowa didn't really play a true center all the time when they had the Murray brothers for a couple seasons, then Riley was behind Filip Rebraca who was a pretty good player and then was behind Owen Freeman this year, until Owen got hurt. In the times that Riley has gotten to play, he is not a Power 5 starting center. This does not give me a positive feeling about this offseason if we're seriously take a run at him as anything other than a possible backup and I'm not even that excited about that.

Hopefully this is more a sign of the staff being stealthy like they have been in the past because the two names dropped by folks are very uninspiring choices.

Oh, hey, wondering if you have anything to say that pertains to Gerry McNamara?

Just looked up his stats and not sure why but again we are talking about Red -
Mulvey played 7 minutes a game last season. We need deep depth here too. With this staff, I’d rather have a senior transfer with 48 games of Big Ten experience than an unknown lower division player and rely on the staff’s scouting abilities.

Mulvey is big, and has good rebounding percentages, and his PER of 17.2 would have been fourth on our team this past season. Most importantly, Mulvey has a positive DBPM, we definitely could use a defensive minded big man off the bench.

Was just prepped by a colleague in the 518…

Riley Mulvey has entered the portal. Expect Syracuse to be a player.
haven't heard his name much here in Iowa. I didnt realize he was still on the team.

If Freeman stays, I'm not worried about who our backup center is because I think Freeman will take minutes at center to increase the amount of Donnie/Sadiq floor time (then it's easier to add three shooters, and that's a team that can run). True backup center will play situationally, like McLeod. Mulvey is definitely not Red's starting center. Next year will sink or float depending on the top 6 guys so that's who I'm worried about.

Siena thinks they may have a good chance with him. Was GMAC his recruiter when here? He’s from the Siena area.
