That only works if the mid majors are actually paying their kids to start with...otherwise there's nothing they get out of that.

Feel like the end result should still be multi-year NIL / contracts once revenue sharing is in place. But that would require collective bargaining, which is what the NCAA should have done years ago with any sort of foresight.

Couple notes on Teel above from this past year. He shot 34.7 from 3 point range, 47.3 overall FG %, and almost a 79% FT shooter. Averaged 1.2 steals a game and 3.2 TO's.

I’d prefer to see a team built with tall athletic players that give maximum effort on the defensive end. If they are good on offense that’s a bonus. What Autry cannot continue to do is build a team of bad/unwilling defenders that also happen to be sub par shooters. If you have a team that plays tough defense and rebounds you can win without having to shoot lights out. Would be great to see an offense that runs some sets and looks competent too, but it may be easier money (NIL) wise to build a team of players that are good defensively. These 15-20 ppg scorers in the portal are going to command big $$$ and probably will be going to the Kentucky’s and UNCs not Cuse.

That’s the key. Having an identity to recruit for. We have no identity as of today. It’s just throwing whoever out there and hope the win.
People used to complain we couldn’t recruit for zone anymore because NBA didn’t play it. But atleast we had a style that was unique to us.

That’s a lot of money for a guy who can’t get his own shot. Good shooter but not a difference maker. Would be a nice piece on a good team. Put him on a team like St. John’s and he’d me dynamite.

We need players who are defensive minded. With mid-majors, it’s hit or miss if you look at the offensive stats. I believe defense translates better from mid-majors to majors.

The most important position we need to fill is that of point guard. Throwing a lot of dollars at a top tier all around point guard, preferably one from a major school is essential. Yes, we aren’t a sexy school, but if we have the money we should be able to outbid other schools for a solid but fringe NBA guard who is looking for a last big paycheck.

A 7 foot shot blocker who was 17-45 (37%) from 3 pt range wasn't something I was expecting to see in the stats.

I agree with you but the problem is red doesn’t know how to teach defense. His only exposure was the zone.

If you told me we'd get shooters to go around the PG that can't shoot very well, I'd be open to it, but we already know that isn't happening, so yeah, we absolutely must have shooting at the PG position.

one of our best frosh classes ever featured etan (derrick then) thomas ,
jason hart , ramel "rock" lloyd and lesean howard. i can remember reading the camp news before they arrived on the hill and all were very highly rated defensively. i've got no issues stressing defense this off season. whatever it was we did last season was horrible. teams scored at will .

100% couldn’t agree with you more. We have no identity, no specific type of player(s) we target and it’s led to a roster of misfit pieces that are bad on both ends of the floor. I really hope Red takes a defense first approach and they target big athletic players that want to play tough defense like the old Ben Howland and Jamie Dixon Pitt teams.

Pretty sure the DOJ has said the ncaa can’t ever restrict transfer eligibility. So I would probably get used to it?
