Ovi scored a hat trick today in the Caps 7-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers. The Caps lead the Eastern Conference by 13 points. Ovi is now just 12 points behind tying Wayne Gretzky's total regular season goal record of 894 goals; 13 to break the record. It was said on TNT today that he's on pace to break the record in the Caps game on April 4th vs. the Blackhawks. That's the 7th game before the end of the Caps' regular season on April 17. The Caps next nationally televised game is a week from Wednesday, March 5th, on TNT at the NYRangers at 7:30pm. The Caps next 3 games, all at home, are on ESPN+ vs. Calgary (Tuesday), St. Louis (Thursday), and Tampa Bay (Saturday 12:30pm).

Ovi has been on a tear, as have the Caps. His shot is still a rocket after all these years.

I'm going to the game Thursday night. Hoping for another hat trick, or at least 1 goal!
I did see the game when he went into the second spot. That was amazing.

I bought my first season tickets in the Summer of 1982 during the "Save the Caps" Campaign. I had them for about 35 years.

Tom Wilson, John Carlson, & Ovi

Going on Saturday vs TB. I’ve had seats since the opening of the then MCI Center downtown. Used to be in 2d row behind the ice level camera. Automatic TV shot for every goal celebration. Then Uncle Ted made the row VIP. Thinking we r like MSG. So up to the 200s we go. Still a great look.

My seats in the new arena were 10th row behind the Caps bench on the goal side. Turned out to be right over the tunnel to the locker room. Sitting in front of me was the backup goalie on the end of the bench. Was the exact location of my seats at the old Cap Center in Landover. When they moved to the new building they gave the same location which just happened over the tunnel. Best seats in the House.

I need to hang out with you guys! I only get to 4-5 games a year, but usually in the 200s where I can find them. But, I am retiring next week so will have more time to go!

Best wishes in your retirement. The two most common phrases us retired people say are 1) where does the day go, and 2) when did I used to get this stuff done when I was working. I no longer have my seats as I gave up my tickets about 10 years ago as I was spenting less time in the area. I now see the Caps once in awhile when they play the Panthers down here in South Florida. Their arena is 10 minutes from where I live. And, BTW, their long-time TV broadcaster Steve Goldstein lives around the corner from me and is a Syracuse alum. Go Caps!

Very cool! I have two more working days. Company had a very nice send off for me tonight.
Last night was a very bad night for the Caps. They looked a step slow all night, and need to get it back on track.

Heading to south Florida in a few weeks to visit friends, and think about relocating. And to simply warm up.

Very nice. Congrats! Yeah, come on down. It's going to be in the 80s this coming week down here.

Caps have had two stinker games in a row. Hopefully they can turn it around on Saturday and going forward. Tom Wilson was out last night and I wasn't thrilled with the way Carberry mixed up the lines. I also think we're going to see more of Logan Thompson in goal than every other game.

Caps beat Ottawa at home 5-4 in a shootout. Their first shootout win of the season. But the Caps blew leads of 3-0 & 4-3. No Ovi goals. The Caps break their 3 game losing streak.

In the old Cap Centre, we had a 10-game plan (always took the Rangers, Flyers, Islanders, Montreal, plus a couple of others) and sat in one of the corners of the end the Caps shot at twice, two rows above the walkway (so no one blocked our view). The whole ice was in view and we didn't have to keep swiveling our heads.

we have a 5 game plan now on the second level. just went to the 5th game (loss to St.Louis), and thinking about picking up tickets to one of the remaining games, and the playoffs

Ovi's #885 tonight at MSG in the Caps' 3-2 OT win over the Rangers. Ovi's goal tied it in the 3rd & the winning goal in OT by Tom Wilson on a 2 in 1 breakout with Dylan Strome. Brilliant and patient pass by Stome over to Wilson on the right edge of the crease who directed it up & over the NYR goalie.

9 to go to tie Gretzky; 10 to break his record. 20 regular season games left.

The Capitals beat the Red Wings tonight 5-2 at home. Their league leading 21st come from behind victory of the season. They trailed 2-0 in the first period and scored 4 goals in the 3rd. The Caps only had 1 power play tonight and didn't score on it, but they had 2 short-handed goals in Detroit's 3 power plays. No Ovi goals tonight but Caps goals by Radddysh, Chychrun, Wilson and 2 by Protas. The Capitals are the top team in the Eastern Conference, 9 points up on the Florida Panthers.
