2024 - Portal Tracker

Lots of talent in the portal already

Season 3 Nbc GIF by The Office

Start making athletic scholarships a formal contract under consideration as being employees. All deals are a 2 yr minimum.

Either that or open the portal for the first semester, therefore making a player ineligible for second semester and have an active portal period from April 1 through May 31.

Exceptions being graduates, family emergency and coach vacancies for which entrance to the portal can occur outside the entry window.

By no means near a perfect solution but somehow this has to make more sense.
So, same thing for coaches, assistant coaches, athletic directors, etc.? No one can move? Would there be written exceptions? Death in the family?
What is the remedy? Make a guy stay and play when he doesn’t want to be there.
What is the bargain the player gets for that? Guaranteed playing time?
Rather, why don’t we make sure our coaches can operate in this environment.
Did you complain when FB signed all the portal guys? Doubtful.

Sure attack it all you want. It doesn’t changing that it’s destroying college sports as it stands. It’s one thing to point all this out and another to have no comment on a solution. Something has to give or dump it all and everything is professional. All this is now is free agency.

How long until people have had enough putting up tons of money for semi pro student athletes with a major de emphasis on student? NIL is great - the portal is a mess. You are making it out like every kid that leaves hates his school and would be imprisoned if he left… which is absurd. There has to be some middle ground to temper the chaos.

Well, it only took him about seven seasons, but it looks like he’s finally Goodinenough to play college hoops.

/ shows self out

// I’ll be here all week!
Try the veal!!
Honestly, can a guy paly forever now. Do I have eligibility? It's been a while since we took on a two guard project.

What problems are these proposals solving, exactly?

Easier make them sit one year like it was w/ exception if coach is removed. That would stop most of the silliness

I don’t think you can solve the problem more or less trying to find ways to add some structure to what is basically mass free agency. I just don’t see how it can stay like it is now

In the very least, he'd bring a physicality to our guards that we don't currently have. He tries to bully everyone around even when he's physically overmatched. Would be replacing one bad shooter with another bad shooter though and he's simply not as skilled as Judah to make up for the shooting woes.
