I don’t know. I tend to think there is more to it than that. It’s not little league.
Does Boone get credit for setting a culture that resulted in winning the division and a pennant?

Not sure how a manager is supposed to prevent or manage his way out of that confluence of events.

Boone should have created a culture where the CF, who didn’t make an error all year, and the SS, who was excellent defensively all year, would know making a mistake in Game 5 of the World Series is unacceptable.

I don’t love Cashman. I think winning the division only three times over the last eleven or twelve years kind of sucks for a team with advantages. Is naming the top 5 home grown talents really the right measure? Did you try that exercise with other franchises?

The Yankees have unlimited resources. The fact that they have more titles in the last 24 years than most teams is an accomplishment or a failure?

The Yankees aren’t winning because they aren’t getting players. Part of that is bad FA signings. Part of that is poor player development. You need both. FAs signings can look good when they are made. So you can give some leeway there. But why the poor player scouting and development?

I can’t go through each team but I would guess that over 25 years you can come up with a deeper list for most teams.

Also part of the problem is the FA non marquee players. Where are the Oneills, Brosiuses, etc? Guys who were scouted on potential and got their name as Yankees? The bottom of the order has stunk for decades.

The player scouting stinks. Which ultimately falls on the GM.

With the errors Betts never should have come up but Cole was one brain fart away from an all time Yankees playoff start. I've ripped him many times but he showed a lot of guts and heart and was not fraudulent last night.

They're not in the WS without Stanton but after seeing Judge and Jazz work Treinen into deep counts I didn't love swinging at that first pitch in the 8th. High and outside borderline at best strike.

I think you are going to be disappointed because franchises don’t generally fire GMs who just won a pennant.

I agree. The Judge blunder set the table. I liken Volpe’s play to Pettite’s play at 3rd in G5 1996. Risky, but the right choice. Tough error call imo. (If safe 96 not sure we win).

You can't solely measure success in the random-playoff era of baseball (with 10-12 teams getting in) on World Series titles. It can be a measure, but not the most significant one.

That being said in New York (with the resources) you should probably win 94 or more games more than 4 times the last 12 years.

That is his legacy. The worst stretches in the history of the franchise.
