I agree. The Judge blunder set the table. I liken Volpe’s play to Pettite’s play at 3rd in G5 1996. Risky, but the right choice. Tough error call imo. (If safe 96 not sure we win).

Agreed, Judge's error broke the spell and introduced doubt. Volpe's error came on the only play he had, and I believe some panic had begun to set in there. You know, trying too hard to make up for the captain's drop. Not a biggie, but on the heels of Judge's faux pas it seemed bigger. Maybe the two are what rattled Cole?

They need to clean house starting with Cashman then Boone then every player. Sign Soto and start from there.

How has Cashman kept his job this long? One title in the last 24 seasons and the drunk driving issue.

Name me the Top 5 home grown Yankees that came in during his tenure ( last 25• years). It is hard to do, I can’t get to five. That is why they aren’t winning.

Cowtown, you are right on why Cole, who was having a great pitching performance, then watched Judge, who had his eye on the runner from first, instead of the ball and then all hell broke loose.

You have to cover first no matter what - that's on Cole, but he was as you say, definite rattled after that. He was the ACE we all knew up to that point. His team let him down.

Sad, and a shame.

If I were the president of the Yankees I would pay anything for Soto to stay. We'll see what happens.

Everyone knows that's the reality for most MLB players but the dude couldn't pass on peeing on NYY fans a few minutes after a tough loss? He's a phenomenal hitter (although he's a train wreck in the OF) but he seems like a jerk. The constant glaring at the pitcher when he's walked is annoying.

He's a good player that makes Judge better, but I don't think anyone is worth $600M
