I had flashbacks to Jeter in Toronto, I think, diving head first back to the third base bag and injuring himself.

Definitely called correctly, but how about revisiting the rule and not allow the defense an automatic double play when a guy is clearly not doing it intentionally.Make it so nobody can advance but it’s not an out unless done intentionally.

it is a quirky part of the rule.

But I guess it removes a level of doubt from the umpires..

It's crazy that this play has come up twice in a week. I feel like the rule of interference on infield flies could be tweaked.

That being said, It's not an issue last night if Soto doesn't lolly gag it back to second base, and instead just goes back immediately. It's almost as if he was trying to see how close he could make it, then realized he had to take that direct line rather than going around
