But unlike football, no nooners!Blame the ACC.

A lot of really nice pieces are in place. If Red continues developing as a coach and this group starts to gel, it could be the beginning of something really special. I say that as someone who thought Red's performance last year was termination-worthy.Rough year attendance wise? But Melo says we're going to make the Final Four!

Carmelo Anthony predicts Syracuse basketball will reach Final Four
Unsurprisingly, Anthony is backing his school and predicting a deep run in March Madness.www.syracuse.com
That's a real BIG IF.A lot of really nice pieces are in place. If Red continues developing as a coach and this group starts to gel, it could be the beginning of something really special. I say that as someone who thought Red's performance last year was termination-worthy.
Yep... I'm doing this to myself again.
Am I reading this right, we dont play stanford this year?
Everybody misses one opponent.Am I reading this right, we dont play stanford this year?
Agreed, lots of biotching and moaning in here. I think this schedule is better than last yearsI feel like I'm the only one that is pumped about the schedule. It's all Q4 cupcakes or top tier Q1 games on the road. Huge resume wins if we take down a big name but not impactful to the net if we lose. There is a reason that almost all tourney schools now schedule this way. It builds confidence in rosters with all new guys early, builds momentum for the program and it juices the Net. Finally we caught up.
Last few years the talent, coaching, and just everything was not at the level it should starting in November and there was also a huge problem at the Dome. There was never any momentum and really just no reason to get people excited at home.
This year the schedule looks much different. Outside of a really tough early test with Tennessee I don't see a game at the Dome that is unwinnable. The hardest ACC game at home being a UNC squad with more questions than answers and a floundering Athletics Dept in general that just lit tens of millions on fire with their Football gamble with Old Bill.
It's also possible we run through almost all of December and January without losing. Really unheard of that we spend the majority of our December and Jan winning games instead of just waking up every other day with our Net plummeting.
And extra bonus points making Clemson come up to the Dome New Years Eve to kick off ACC play ha.
Everybody misses one opponent.
Yep.Wow that is dumb, and it isn't even to preserve rivalries. Which makes it even worse.
It's a good schedule but I worry that the Vegas tournament will leave us scrambling for a couple months if we don't get at least one good win there.Agreed, lots of biotching and moaning in here. I think this schedule is better than last years
Do we know yet if the Oct. 25 exhibition at Buffalo will have a video broadcast? There is not currently a link on the UB site or Syracuse site. It looks like UB is typically on ESPN+. I can't think of the last time there wasn't a video/TV broadcast of a Syracuse game.

Great point!I don't know where best to put this comment so I thought I'd put it in this thread and maybe some people who would be interested in it would see it. [I haven't read the preseason practice thread so I don't know if it should go there.]
I saw an interview on Squawk Box [CNBC] this morning that included a comment about basketball that may be relevant to the success of our team. The person interviewed, Jon Levy, is a behavioral scientist and a best selling author. He just published a new book called "Team Intelligence: How Brilliant Leaders Unlock Collective Genius".
He commented about the state of basketball, mainly pro basketball. He said the the size of a player's salary is usually dependent on how many points they score. This incentivizes players to be selfish and shoot a lot hoping more will go in. He went on to say, however, that the sign of a successful coach is the rate that he increases the number of passes that are made. Thus finding the player who has the best chance to score. The example he used was a coach who increased the amount of passing from 50% to 90%.
So in looking at how successful this year's team will be, one might want to pay attention to the amount of passing we see during games and whether the passing finds the player with the best opportunity to score.
Just a thought.
