BIG MIKE IS NEXT

i'm gonna be truly disappointed with the coaching staff at syracuse if we can't flip at LEAST a couple penn st players to Syracuse. this is a golden opportunity to kick open the locker room doors and raid a powerhouse northeastern program. if we can't , well that just confirms that we're indeed P5 nobodys.

Maybe more NFL coordinators will decide to become head coaches with big buyouts instead. Joe Brady, etc. You get a raise, you get a big enough buyout... why not? You can always go back to being OC in the NFL again if you fail. In the NFL you can get canned easily after 1 year. Few college programs have ADs who can do that--UCLA is the only firing in Year 2. I could see LSU bring him back if PSU does not want him. I am sure that there are many others.

Nixon is likely gone. There will be a good opening for him somewhere... NFL OC... P4 head coach... certainly a G5 head coach at some place better than Temple.

Nixon was prolly in demand after last year.

After this year?? LOLz.
Who's gonna hire him based on the production of the O this season??

Penn State boards want to hire him as O/C. Decisions are not made based on just one year. Whatever excuse anyone could make for Fran, they could make the same for Nixon. Most programs will have 2 or 3 decent QBs. Texas Tech is down to 3rd string.

I believe Nixon to be a very good OC. However, it remains to be seen whether he is failing to adapt his game plan to the capabilities of his players or Collins simply does not produce in game time.

While I think it is more of the latter, I do see some stubbornness in not changing quick enough to the players' actual abilities.

Systems are great so long as you have the players for the system. Once that requirement breaks down, the elite make adjustments to accommodate the abilities and inabilities of their players.

Obviously, these are just my opinions from watching the games and I will defer to the coaches on this sight and the die hard who do real analysis of the games.

They can have him, I'd be super interested to see what his offense looks like in the big 10.

The only good thing about the Angeli injury/collapse of our season is Fran would have been a hot name for some currently open jobs and jobs that open via the Domino Effect. And there are going to be a lot of both

In the portal/NIL era there is no next year. So nothing good from a bad season. I rather have gone 8-4 this year than 4-8 and having no clue what players will be back. Sadly that is the state of CFB now. Every season is starting from scratch. There is little carryover.

We are a train wreck right now, not sure any elites recruits are gonna want to make that leap. Too bad we tanked this year...
Recruits want to play right away as well and looking at this roster a lot of those guys could.

He’d be crazy to leave. UF is a dumpster fire. LSU is insane. They love him at Mississippi, and they are good with being real good and a contender.
That is what most coaches misunderstand. The grass may appear greener (usually only because of money) but a great place that a coach and family enjoy that pays well is likely the better option.

It depends. Kelly, Napier, Norvell, Franklin, etc. all leaving with huge compensation obligations still owed to them. They coached at the peak of the profession, at programs where you could presumably win a Natty, and have received life changing (generational) amounts of money. The next job has essentially been rendered meaningless.
