2025-26 Coaching Carousel

Campbell is who I wanted when we hired Dino. Has been a heck of a coach with great success at Iowa State. Penn State is much different with much higher expectations. Not sure it’s a good fit for him solely because he is the 9th option. The fans may have a very short leash and want a bigger name at the drop of a hat.

I know the schedule can change but right now SU is scheduled to play Toledo and UConn next season and they’ll both have new coaches.

Wow I’m really surprised by this. He was striking out on a lot of interviews over the years but he’s done a good job there. If he does well he will be gone in a year or two.

Chesney to UCLA has disaster written all over it.

Don’t mind seeing Matt Campbell at Penn St. Not sure how they see this as an upgrade? At best lateral move.

Lane already getting in trouble with LSU sorority girls. Receipts dropped. Totally on character. Does ERob want to be involved with that?

Really didn’t want Franklin at VT. Was hoping he’d go south.

Iowa St isn't as easy job. When you compare how Campbell did to other coaches in their history, it looks pretty darn good. Maybe he'll bomb out, but I think he might do pretty decent with Penn State's resources

It’s also been a much easier schedule the last couple years. He’s put some good talent in the NFL from there. Seemed to be great at player development.

Campbell could have gotten a lot of jobs with big money over the years. I wonder why he picked that sewer.

Matt Campbell is a good coach. Better than Penn State deserves with how they went through the process. But Kraft and the rest of the Brain Trust at State Penn didn't fire Franklin with the intention of hiring Campbell.
Agreed. If certain conversations haven’t happened yet, I am sure they will be happening shortly and I bet they sound a bit like “this is your mess, your solution. Pray your hire wins or you are going to be shown the door.” Kraft has to be in the doghouse right now. It will be worse if State sucks next year and Virginia Tech shows strong.

He's not well liked among the fan base. Most think he's under-produced. He doesn't seem to be a very personable guy, which could be why he has struck out on some jobs the past couple years. He was the leading candidate for the Indiana job before they ended up hiring Cignetti. I don't think he'll be anything special at UConn, but hope I'm wrong. I'll always root for a Toledo guy to succeed. (Except that douche Tim Beckman)
