2025-26 NBA

Cade Cunningham attempted 45 shots in 45 minutes last night.
The good news : 46 pts
The bad news: missed THIRTY ONE shots.

He’s a good player but I personally can’t stomach this type of crap

Planting the seed for a Magic-Heat buzzer-beater parlay special, only on ESPN Bet! $20 and a swift kick to the groin from Kevin Hart if you lose!
Kevin hart and those millionaire borderline billionaire celebrities doing gambling endorsements sickens me. “Let me take money from this sleazy company to extricate some poor schlep from his money”.

Couldn’t you say that about any form of celebrity endorsements? Not even close. I don’t think I’ll lose my house and my kids inheritance spending on Jimmy Johns

Has anyone seen Jokic’s shooting splits the last 2 weeks? Basically all season after game 1.

Legit argument it could be the best ever.

Joker last night... 55 points (18-23 shooting) in 34 minutes. Most efficient basketball player who has ever existed.
Denver and OKC in the Western Conference Finals is going to be something. Hopefully both teams can get there healthy.

Made it back from Miami to Golden 1 Center last night to watch the Kings go down 40 and eventually lose by 33 to the Hawks. Between the Cuse - Miami game, the Bills loss and last night, this is the worst week of in-person games in my life.

I know it's early, but OKC feels to me like they have the potential to be historically good (i.e. 70ish wins), similar to 1996 Bulls or 2016 Warriors. Barring any injuries I just don't see any teams in the league beating them in a seven game series.

I would be curious to know if there are studies that more compulsive gamblers have been created now that sports betting is legal, vs the numbers when it was illegal.
I think prop bets are a bad thing and should be outlawed, as should in game betting. Just feeds the win it all back now gene some folks have.
I assume legal gambling debts are dischargeable in bankruptcy (not that I wish that on anyone).

Such a study would likely take years to provide data with statistical significance and it would require some entity to fund it. So many entities are making money off this that it will be difficult to curtail. Class action lawsuits are coming. Families devastated. Inheritances wiped clean. It’s all coming.

This is why I hate the celebrity endorsers more than the gambling itself. Theoretically, I wouldn’t have that big a problem with some schlep with no job prospects or source of income making money off advertising for Draft Kings or whatever. Of course that would never happen. Why would they pay such a person to stump for them? Instead we have Lebron James , Kevin Hart, Jamie Fox , the freaking Mannings , Wayne Gretzky . They really need the cash that bad? Nobody calls them on this crap. If I ever had a chance to meet these people in person , it’s the only thing I’d say to them.

“How do you live with yourself knowing you are contributing in some small way to a kid going hungry or sleeping in a house without heat in winter because their dad lost money they couldn’t afford to lose doing something you not only encouraged / recommended , but made money from?”

Okc is awesome (and they would obviously be my pick to win) but I think it’s worth pointing out just last year a Denver team with a severely compromised Gordon took them to 7 and then Indy took them to 7 and who knows what happens if haliburton doesn’t get hurt.

Fair, but Chet is better, Jalen Williams hasn't even played yet and Ajay Mitchell has come out of nowhere. I do hope someone can knock them off because they are probably my least favorite watch of any champion going back to the 2000's. Yes, I am a hater.

You never know what kind of health a team may be in by the end of the season, but right now, with 3 or 4 rotation players out of the lineup, they are still 12-1. They're going to be heavy favorites, if they keep this up.

OKC is incredible, I’m just saying we saw two teams push them to 7 games last year.
And they were largely healthy come playoffs which, as we see, the NBA has a big time problem with for many teams.

We will eventually see celebrities who have lost it all doing public service ads against the dangers of gambling. One of my former neighbors was a 10+ year NHL player who also owned a successful business here in Vermont with locations all over the country. All of a sudden moved out of the hood, and the state, a year or so ago. Turns out he gambled it all away and had to move the family back in with his in laws.

There is no such thing as "legal gambling debts". On legal betting sites you can never actually go in the hole or in debt - you can only bet the money you have in your account. So they are never owed a thing.

How you financed putting that money into the betting sites could certainly put you in debt.. be it credit cards, loans, not paying other stuff. Its the gambling addiction that put you in debt, but the debtors in the end will not be the "Fan Duels" "Bet 365" of the world.

Jokic with a PER of 39.

I got cute last night (in a dumb way), and put Jokic as a "GTD" on my fantasy team injured list as he was inactive last night, This created a roster spot so I could bring Derrick Lively off my injured list and play him.

Short sighted as I now have Jokic on my IL, and have to release somebody to recall him tonight and not sure I want to do that. Although Lively is getting close to it.

So in the end I will have the massive 4/4 effort from Lively, instead of the 30/10/10 or whatever this freak puts up tonight.

Well played!

Surpising starts - which teams do you think hold on to the 50 win pace, if any?

Detroit 14-2
Toronto 11-5
Miami 10-6
SAS 11-4 (lot of talent, but still so young)
Phoenix 10-6

Detroit at 14-2 is very surprising. I'm not sure if Toronto, Miami and Phoenix are anything more than .500 level teams, but if I had to book one? I could be a homer and pick Toronto who is 10-1 last 11 games.

I doubt Detroit keeps up their current win percentage (not exactly going out on a limb), but I think they're good and are safely going to avoid the play in tournament.

Spurs are good, probably good enough to avoid the play in but feel less confident saying that about western conference teams.

I think Toronto is play in or better. Miami and Phoenix I'm more skeptical about but very impressive starts for them for sure.

How far down in the west do you go before you find the first team worse than the best team in the east ?

The West have 5 contenders, and the East has 2, maybe 3, if you count Detroit. But that doesn't mean all 5 of those contenders are going to be better than Cleveland or New York come playoff time. I don't see the Lakers keeping up a 75% win rate, even with Doncic.
