2025-26 NBA

They have...gotten a lot better. Real frisky team.

If they sign Turner with cap space (they are) they cant use any exceptions other than the room (which I presume will be what Kevin Porter goes into)

It seems a long shot, but some media are pushing KAT + 2 picks for Giannis. I guess I would do it, but they'll need another shooter. Townes was excellent from 3 last year, and Giannis is not an outside threat.

One other story I read was that the Knicks were going to try to get Malik Beasley for the veteran's minimum, but there is interest from the Pistons, Nets and Pacers. Knicks close enough to a championship to get him?

Before his suspension over the gambling charge (which he was just cleared of ...), he scored 16 ppg for Detroit, and made 43% of his threes last year. That's impressive and would be a tremendous addition.

If the knicks can get Giannis for anything they need to do it. At worst he’s the 3rd best player in the league.

Importantly, he's a much better defender than Townes.

After reading something that unrealistic I would probably immediately unfollow that media member.

1. The Bucks hang up the phone immediately. Two 20'ish picks is not worth much. And the player value between Towns and Giannis is large -- Giannis is a top 5 superstar and Towns is a player on the fringes of making/not making the all star game every year.
2. "I guess i would do it". Not much to ponder. The Knicks would absolutely destroy the Bucks in the trade scenario. If you have to do a follow up trade for balance you do it.

Sounds more like an idea that a caller to a sports radio talk show would propose. Then again I remember when a New York media member in the late 90's proposed Benny Agbayani and a reliever for a 23 year old Vladimir Guerrero.

Salary wise, they are about equal. Giannis has won a title, and is way better defensively. Towns is the better rebounder. Giannis is poor from the FT line, and would have to be subbed out at the end of games. He can't shoot threes, and he clogs the lane. KAT allows for better spacing, and can play with another big easier than Giannis.

You have to think about player fit. If your 2 bigs are Giannis and Mitchell Robinson, you've got no one to space the floor so you can play 5 out, unless you go really small.

There is no world in which Giannis is subbed out at the end of games unless it's because he's fouled out.

At any rate, the Knicks are not getting Giannis, and if they did, it would likely be gutting the team and their draft picks.

Hack a Shaq.

That's fine. He shoots better at the free throw line than your half court offense unless he's having one of his random horrific free throw nights.

He shoots 61%. That's trash.

The only first round pick the Knicks have that's eligible to be traded is the Wizards first next year, which is top 8 protected and then turns into 2 seconds, so its not an actual first.

Well, luckily the Wizards have retooled and reloaded this offseason and they are primed to get out of the bottom third of the league, so that pick should convey this year. Oh wait...
