2025-26 NBA

I watched a decent amount of Nuggets/Knicks last night. I think the main reason why Jokic is so difficult to defend is that there is simply no one in the history of the league that has the body movement and contortions that he does. Like the way he moves his arms -- it's almost indescribable. It's like they're flailing noodles.

He did not come cheap.

The winner of this trade comes down to a draft lottery gamble by two teams.

The Pacers have about a 50/50 shot of being a top 4 pick in the draft.
Pacers get the top 4 pick, Clippers get a 2031 unprotected pick.
Miss out on top 4 pick, Clippers are getting somewhere between #5-#7 in the 2026 draft.

Even if the Pacers luck out and only give LA the 2031 pick, there's still a decent chance the 2031 pick ends up being good too. But yeah, kinda incredible how specifically they protected that pick.

Shocker…

they should only tweet out davis news when he is actually planning to play. that is the information that needs to be emergently released cause it is such a rare occurrence.

The All-NBA teams will look a lot different this year. Lebron can't make it (ends his 21 year streak) due to not being able to play in the minimum 65 games (although he probably doesn't have the stats to make it anyway).

Joker, Curry, Luka, Wemby and Anthony Edwards are very close to not being able to meet the 65 game minimum either.

Fully healthy they say

Washington might be a playoff team next year. They've got a good core of 5 young players, including a young center so Davis won't have to spend all this time there. They're going to get another good draft pick, too.

If the NBA is ok with star players sitting out one half of back to backs for rest, isn't it time to eliminate back to backs. What a double edge sword for fans of tanking teams. People pay good money to go to these games.

I'm not sure why but AD just never seems to get the respect he deserves. He's an historically elite player on both ends of the floor. He's 5th in league history in PER, 34th in VORP. Probably translates to a Top 25 or so player in league history.
Because he's not that good.

Because he's not that good.

He might have great stats, but he gets injured a lot, he doesn't like to defend centers. When you're that big, you need to want to dominate people. He gets numbers, but he wants to shoot threes, and he's just not very good at it.

It’s awful.

In my opinion, the talent and skill of NBA players has never been better. But the entertainment product (the jersey variations, weird courts, NBA Cup, all-star weekend, etc) has never been worse.

Kinda curious to see the cup lumped in here with the other stuff (which I mostly agree with you on)

The NBA ASG out to go back to East v West. $15,000,000 to the winning team. Losers get their parking validated.

Yeah, I actually think the play may be to move the NBA cup semi/finals back and have that lead into a week off for the trade deadline and just get rid of All Star weekend.

The NBA Cup has objectively been a success so far.

To each their own but it just feels gimmicky and unnecessary to me. “These regular season games mean more than the others just because.”

Fair enough, but to me anything that makes any regular season games more important is a win to me.

NBA Cup aside, there was a simplicity to the NBA a few decades ago that I found endearing. Teams had one white jersey that they wore at home, and a colored one that they wore on the road. There are some games where it takes me a few seconds to figure out what teams I'm looking at because the jerseys aren't intuitive.

Obviously there were trades and free agency but you didn't have big name stars like Durant, Harden, Paul George, etc. changing teams year after year after year.

I love watching old All Star games on NBA TV. In the 80s, it was like 75% of a real game in terms of effort. Whereas now it's like 25% of a real game. And they just announced the starting lineups, and then played the game. It wasn't this sensory overload shindig with Kevin Hart and concerts and smoke and dancers.

The players today are just insanely talented and would run circles around prior generations IMO, but I wish the league would stop trying so hard and just get back to basics in terms of entertainment.

I probably sound like an 80 year old right now, but oh well.
