Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

The histrionics here are a bit much. Syracuse is the only school in the ACC with committed transfers at the moment. There’s been no movement. 13 of the top 100 is committed and we have one of them.
and IMO 3M is a top 100 something. and we had to pay heavy to keep white. we're doing as much or more as anyone.

There’s been a lot of top guys in the MAAC that have transferred out and been successful in better conferences including the BE, MWC, Big 10 and SEC.

Oh I know I was just making sure that point of view didn’t accidentally forget to pop up on a thread page

We all were trying to cope and move on considering the possibility White would leave and focusing on his shortcomings in that exercise. The reality is that if he starts putting it all together this year on the bball iq and skill development side of things he could be scary good. This staff is very much built around both expertise on both sides of the ball as well as player development. If it all clicks he could have a big year.

Agreed, though I think this will only be true for like another day or two. I'm with you though, not going to bother to panic until the dust has settled.

I think people need to understand that there are schools like Michigan, UNC, Duke, Kentucky that will set the market. We have money but not like those schools. So, like when the Dodgers are going after someone, the market waits to see what they had to pay to set the market. That is where we are and where the guys that we are looking to get are at. Waiting for the market to set itself. I would think that we will start to see some movement over the next week.

I’m not certain the flood gates are going to open this year. Yes some more movement but I figure agents are going to fight harder for longer with more of them in the cbb representation game as well trying to get their piece of it.

I think that’s also true, keeping in mind with so many new agents on the scene they had their eyes on big paydays too. It really is like the RE agent booms over the years. They also have built in social media megaphones/brokers to work through like Trilly, Curry , Goodman etc.

How are you feeling dasher on us getting a solid roster?

This thread is strange. A lot of weird takes.
Welcome To The Internet GIF

Kind of a mildly discouraging couple of days.

Got off to a good start with the unexpected 3M commitment, then Doty, and even Goodrick [who at minimum is a better backup center option than Souare was last year, which is valuable]. It was also nice to get White back [and Kiyan to a lesser extent vis a vis importance].

Then a couple of misses, and a quiet few days. Maybe that's just the way the market will unfold every year -- quick flurry, followed by a slow lull as negotiations take place. But it hasn't been as quick of a process as I think most were hoping for [to be expected, just seemed like we got off to a hot start].

I've noticed things slowing down with the portal as players/schools figure things out. First couple years players would rush in first day and a large number would embarrassingly come back a week or two later. Now people jump in later, which means full out negotiations start later, and I also think announcements come later after all the T's are crossed and i's dotted as opposed to when a handshake agreement happens.

This is a good thing, the system is becoming more professional, but I hate to see fans freak out. Its not as if every school has a settled roster and Syracuse is the only team still looking. We are slightly ahead of the curve as far as roster building. That doesn't mean things can't go bad but it does meant that we really dont know if we are trending good or bad at this moment.

Rankings and the school kids played at are also both very subjective and variable factors as well. For instance I’d love if we were chasing the second leading scorer from Miami OH or even the top scorer at Penn as an extra wing…. But also there are a ton of good options in the portal and maybe more to come not yet out there or having their agents field inquiries…

Why on Earth would we be pocketing NIL for next year when we haven’t made a NCAA tournament in 5 years.
Because we wouldn’t. That is freaking idiotic, Gerry well knows and has said publicly that we are on the brink of irrelevancy(or something to that effect) and we need to turn this program around. If we have a good first year, the NIL will grow. You pocket money and you stink the NIL will drop and pocketing does nothing

I agree 100% If we get the guys we want and have money left over, great. But that shouldn't be our strategy. We have to make the tournament next year.

Thursday and Friday were a “dead period” for the portal. Kids can zoom call, as we saw, and set up visit but they are not allowed to take them until today. We should start to see movement from just about everybody on the commitment front. A few guys have committed already.

Agree. Gerry finished last season with what 6 or 7 healthy schorship players? He understands the need for depth as much or more than any coach.

Someone who says GMac is planning on pocketing NIL is a person who knows nothing about GMac, Syracuse or college basketball.

If they had any sort of depth they probably beat Duke which more than likely makes him ill
