I agree 100% If we get the guys we want and have money left over, great. But that shouldn't be our strategy. We have to make the tournament next year.

Spend every freaking penny. Invest everything you have to be competitive and make the tournament. Nothing else matters.

Sorry I should have said feeling like we won’t land any of the top rated portal guys I have no idea who the staff is targeting, but for all the NIL we’re supposed to have now it hasn’t been a promising start yet

I think people need to understand that there are schools like Michigan, UNC, Duke, Kentucky that will set the market. We have money but not like those schools. So, like when the Dodgers are going after someone, the market waits to see what they had to pay to set the market. That is where we are and where the guys that we are looking to get are at. Waiting for the market to set itself. I would think that we will start to see some movement over the next week.

I completely agree and understand. Speaking only for myself, I am concerned that the yearly pivot to "we don't have enough NIL money" talk will creep in soon, while we all pretend that we have found the diamonds in the rough. Then when we lose to Duke by 25, people will tell us how it is better than losing by 37 given our NIL situation (which is supposed to be great for Gerry.)

This whole thread has gotten bizarre.

First, just because we have reportedly been interested in various guys who’ve entered the portal does not equate them to being a priority.

Second, even if Syracuse is mentioned as being interested in someone doesn’t make it true. It’s lying season and these “agents” make up crap all the time to boost their clients profile.

This thread needs a reset, too much impatience and paranoia.

Not sure that matters. Yes not many have signed anywhere but the feeling has been we’re still priced out or not an attractive option to the top guys. We’ll see how it shakes out.

Whether we accomplish that, no one can know at this point. But if you are going to be disappointed becasue we don't hit the very top of the market, prepare to be disappointed.

Right. This year we put together a strong well coached team that makes the tourney and rejuvenates and then next year more money comes in and more support to keep pushing forward and landing bigger fish too.
