No, the delay is because we have to pay 4-5 times the amount for a center this year than we paid for Kyle because of inflation at that position.

I’m not wrong. We don’t have the money to pay centers due to the inflation at that position. If we had the money, we’d be paying a center $3 million or so. It’s why we couldn’t compete for the top centers. This isn’t difficult. Please don’t make it so.

You said we didn’t have more money. We do. Centers also want more this year. I’m not making anything difficult. It’s not hard to understand.

You are trying to project your inherent doom and gloom perspective onto the truth. It does nothing but present as a troll. If you want to believe what you feel to be the truth then go for it but stop trying to force it on everyone else.

Also you don’t want to hear it because it ruins your game but PC had to look for massive bargains in the portal this year because they over spent on their three biggest additions. We have yet to over spend. Their big man and their bench sucks.

I don't usually tell people how to spend their money, but after the "coaching search" that was done, let's truly see what Gerry support he really brought.

To be clear, I'm not down on Gerry. I just don't think he should have been hired. I think that was a big mistake. However, I'm trying (I really am) to move past it. It's just hard when I haven't seen this big NIL wallet that we were told we had because of hiring Gerry. To be fair, Red could have brought in this class (so far).

I completely agree. I get that the center market is wildly inflated because the available players aren’t that great or proven, but I thought we’d land a top flight PG at least. I like Dual defensively, but he’s not a proven scorer. I guess we have to hope our coaches can turn him into more of a scorer, unless they can find a starting PG from overseas or among the leftover portal prospects.

Player pricing isn’t up 65%. And it’s the center market that’s skewing the overall market. Wings and guards are up somewhat from last year, but centers are where the costs are being wildly inflated.

College basketball is such a mess, and the NCAA and its member schools did it to themselves, by not getting ahead of things and addressing player compensation years ago.

Has BC signed like 6 or 7 guys? I totally understand we aren't going to compete with Lville, Duke, UK etc I'm not unrealistic. But honestly feels like we're getting lapped by teams like BC, providence, Pitt etc. I think that's the thing that is so disappointing. It's not that we're doing nothing it just feels like teams that should be "under" are doing more/have more funding than us

Money is obviously the biggest hurdle in our portal search. A lot seem to be saying we started with $10 million. If that’s true, it is more than last year when it was presumed we had $8 million.

With Freeman, Starling and George, that was an expensive trio.There probably isn’t a player on the current roster making as much as any of them, with the possible exception of Tobiason.

There’s currently nine players on the roster. If each player is getting a million, some more, some less, that’s in the neighborhood of $9 million. Say it’s less, only $7-$8 million. That only leaves $2-3 million for 3 players, including a starting center, who can command about $2 million.

Could the delay in acquiring more players be because we’re trying to raise more money?

Money is important but I think reputation is our biggest hurdle. We haven’t won a lot of games in a very long time. And you can’t sell “playing in front of 30,000 people” when it hasn’t happened since these players were in middle school.

We aren't signing any high end players either, same crop of mid major and international unknowns not blue chippers. So why have teams supposedly under us done so much more than us

Boston College has a clear strategy of getting good offensive efficiency in their adds (UConn on a much smaller level) I'm happy about our guys as they are collectively positive adds with Dual being a big add from an efficiency standpoint.

We have about $2 million more than last year. So, with inflation, we have about the same as last year, maybe less. Any even with more money, we still can’t afford a respectable center. Last year we had to settle for UCLA’s backup center. I’d expect someone similar again. We’re on a budget whether people like it or not. But the good news is the new AD won’t allow it to continue.

Just because Pitt BC Louisville portal updates are getting blasted in everyone’s faces it doesn’t mean that’s what the rest of the ACC is doing the same. Please go look at the ACC portal tracker. Not rankings just who has actually refilled their roster do far.

I'm not saying all the ACC teams I just think Pitt/Prov/BC are a lot of the times teams we are compared to or seen as similar to us.
