Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

For those of you who have been here for less than a year, remember, not everything that you read here is true. Over time you will identify the posters that actually have access to inside information. There aren't all that many of them. When Jeremy says 1.2 mil for Doty, he heard that from a reliable source. Ultimately, it may not be true because it's a fluid situation and things change, but his source is reliable, based on a history that stretches over many years.

On a side note, I'm really impressed by the patience a lot of you have shown some of the newer posters. My ignore list is getting longer by the day.

For the record - it’s what I heard from somebody I trust. Could be right, could be wrong. I don’t have the deep connections like some of you guys have here. Just sharing what I heard is all.

People need to realize Doty was widely considered a top 60-70 portal guy and had other P5 teams after him. That isn’t a $700K guy. He followed Gerry from Siena so the thought is we got him really cheap. Apparently not.

I would have hoped he’d take a hometown discount. Thats why when I heard $1.2 I was really really surprised

Thank you, What is the true word on this euro center. Such competition for bigs right now. I know they are doing their due diligence while not trying to disrespect the process and certainly the team the best they can.

I had heard he was offered in the low 1 mil range by a big program so 1.2 million makes sense to me.
I also heard he took a big discount to stay with Gerry, he trusts him to make him into the best player possible. He feels a tremendous amount of loyalty to him, which can still exist even in the NIL era.
Supposedly before the tournament and Duke game, Siena was going to pay him 600k for next year,, financed by AW. I assume Syracuse came up a bit, maybe 7 to 800 k.
Once he left Siena, I have no idea if the promise of funding for Doty and the 200k for Moesch also paid by AW would go away.
Doty is literally our highest portal transfer. He was 67 on the ESPN list.
Again, some people want the splashy transfer.
Doty isn’t splashy but was the man for Siena all year.
Always had the ball at the end cause if he was fouled, he always sank them.
Look at his FT% in the MAAC tournament

Looks like that $$ we supposedly had didn’t exist OR the kids we really wanted just wanted to go to a proven winner. Either way it’s starting to look like Dual, Anthony/Doty, Tobiason, Sadiq, Siby will be starting. I realize the portal hasn’t closed yet so they may add another player or two. They will be better than last year, but how much better?

Unfortunately, we will NOT be a destination for the best players until we can at least be a tourney team consistently again. With the right coaching with sophomore jumps (Sadiq/Kiyan) and some luck this team could get there…so far the $ spent doesn't add up even close to 10 million though.
I’m good with Siby with 10lbs more and the Siena guy with Folefac in side a but too. Tough to pay 12 guys when we use 7-8 most

I’m personally not as high on Doty as others (I think he can be a good player, not an 18 ppg player). So it depending on how you feel and what you believe it is, it’s more than that.
I love Doty and not cause he is 10 min from my house. He is tough as hell and is only a soophmore. Will get better this year also. What isn’t to like about him. May be our best player. I’m so confused.

Well … the reasoning why you said you like him:

- he’s tough
- only a sophomore
- will get better

You’re confused?

It actually sounds like you only like him because he’s close and you’ve heard of him.

If he had the same exact profile and went to Western Michigan I don’t think you’d be happy calling him our best player

Literally not true in the slightest. Hes a consensus top 75 player in the portal. What are you on about.

I disagree. It does help he knows the system. What are your points that u don’t like about him. My good points are tough defense, doesn’t sit bye 3 point line all day doing nothing, plays hard whether its Duke or Duquesne, hits his free throws in end of games when it’s important, and he can help teach Gerry’s system to other kids which is huge. Oh can also handle the ball. Please tell me u don’t like him cause of his 3 point percentage. He can improve that easily. He is only a sophomore. Gritty ass kid. Which we had more of him.

I like Doty because he went from a no star recruit to a 4 star transfer who has been in the top 75 in the transfer rankings this year due to sheer hard work and effort.
He works his ass off and is willing to improve and never shys away from the big moments in a game whether on offense or defense.
I like him because he went toe to toe with Duke in the NCAAT and was only derailed by an ankle injury in mid second half and yet still played on.
I like him because he went 27 for 29 from the free throw line in the MAAC tournament.
I like him because you can trust him to make all his free throws in the last 5 minutes of a game.
I like him because he has pledged to raise his 3 pt% up to 36% this year, after raising it from 28% to 32% this year.
I like him because he has a passion to win and actually shows it on the court.
I like him because he will be the much missed and needed leader on our team.

I can say all of this because I have watched him in many games this year and have seen what he can do.
I have absolutely no doubt he will be a key part of this team and will provide solid leadership.
