Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

I would hope it's easier to sell an extra donor two on the final piece being an upgrade at PG, at least that's my hope.
If that were to be the case, any chance we'd have enough juice to pursue some of the top Euro PG options? I think St. John's got a great player in Quinn Ellis, and I would love to see SU go after someone similar. Beyond Jalen Cox, I don't see a ton of lead guards in the portal that project as a starter over Garwey Dual. Someone like Sergio de Larrea (very tall point/forward type from Spain) would be an absolute homerun in my book

That's your comp? Well, when we see Moesch do this...

Tip of the cap to Johnny for an amazing play but the best thing about that was the fact that Su fans dominated that arena in New Jersey. I wasn't in favor of hiring Gerry but after 2 weeks I have come around. We have to get back to that level and I think Gerry and staff can do it.

Exactly. I know people are obsessed with a PG that can shoot the lights out from 3 but at this point we should get a guy that is gonna just be a solid + in the scoring column. I don’t care how he does it or where he comes from.
Especially in college

John Blackwell to Duke.
This is insane riches:

Blackwell, who is still going through the NBA draft process, is joining a backcourt that includes returnees Caleb Foster (8.3 PPG) and Cayden Boozer (7.7 PPG), as well as five-star recruit Deron Rippey Jr. The junior guard said when he entered the portal that he wants to show more on-ball responsibility, meaning Scheyer will have plenty of options as playmakers next season.

Makes me worried about our guard rotation.

Which is why we need another guard.

It will be interesting to see if Cuse pursues another PG or PG capable player. On the one hand there were reports that at the last minute we made a hard push on Wilkens but he ended up getting reeled in by Kentucky who is burning money. On the other hand I read a comment on the board that when GMac spoke he really emphasized defense, ball security, decision making and hustle which really exemplifies Dual and Dual has some offensive chops.
I am guessing we didn't throw all of our money that was intended for Wilkens and Freeman to Luke. So there's likely some left. It will be interesting to see what direction this goes.

Yeah I don’t see the vision with him either. He’s just not a good high major guard at all.

Mack, Reid, Page … all questionable adds. I posted in the other thread just how bad the numbers are in terms of TS pct for so many of BHs adds.

Is anyone else concerned that we don’t have enough ‘dynamic’ players to score the basketball?

Someone who can break down his defender/the defense with quickness, and get into the paint to score or dish? Dual seems to have those qualities, but is he going to be a 35mpg guy? Who else? Last year, it was pretty much only JJ, with flashes of Kiyan, but both players were so flawed.

Is Doty that guy? A playmaker? I’m hoping that if Tobiason is working at the 1, 2, and 3 positions it means he’s got some of those iso capabilities. But he doesn’t strike me as being particularly quick. Guess it depends on whether we are still after another/a starting PG.

And if we signed any of them, the board would say they’re great.

Our skinny bo athletic PG from Chittenango ate Rippy’s lunch when the met. Probably an accident. Accidents happen. Sometimes good things come in small package.
