Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

West Virginia got this international big, and he looks like an immediate impact player. Is our Euro center this good?

Veesaar offered $6 million to transfer by other programs while UNC was willing to pay $4 million. He’s opted for the NBA.
As he should. You want $6M? Go pro.

That is just an asinine value for a college player. Only a program with Eph U money donors would consider paying a kid that much for, most likely, no return on a championship.

Edit: I suppose he could have taken the $6M and risked injury next season with no contract to protect his future earnings.

I love Michigan and I get that they just won the title, but this makes no sense at all. Why would two top bigs in Estella and Thiam both agree to play at Michigan?! Plus Jalen Reed from LSU. There’s not enough playing time to around for all those centers. On top of that, Aday Mara and Morez Johnson declared for the draft, but there’s a chance that one or both could be back. Its frustrating when we struggled to land just one center. make it make sense.
I remember when Michigan used to stack their bench with three of the top HS PF’s seemingly every year, but only one could really get any meaningful playing time. I could never figure out why two or three HS AA’s would go to the same school just for two to ride the pine.

If he doesn't go in the top 7 of the NBA draft, then he would make more money in college than he would in the pros next season.

We already have…
/checks notes

// THREE centers.

And TWO of them are international.
I don’t know. I’m Not thrilled with our options. Some of these potential unsigned international prospects look a lot better than the ones we have.

So the portal is essentially on pause until the NCAA makes a decision about whether to give every senior an extra year of eligibility? And if they do give every senior an extra year, the floodgates will reopen and more madness will ensue?

Smfh at the ncaa continuing to mess everything up.

The backup on the bench and the new recruit and that possible recruit are “always the better option.”

Please win the lotto, donate some NIL and get us that new shiny international prospect (that you really do not know much about) and I guarantee you will love him (until you don’t) and this Board will decide he is too short, tall, fat, skinny, slow, not quick enough, only a zone guy, who really cannot shoot, will be overwhelmed by the competition in the ACC, and not very good at free throw making.

Which means the staff will have to go get a second guy we know nothing about.

No. He has to fit into a very particular system that’s spaced out and he has to have the ball in his hands constantly. Hard pass.
lol, the guy scored 19.6 in the Big Ten, shot 41% from 3 and pulled down 5.4 rebounds a game. And we're too good for him.

I guess I was probably right to avoid this thread. lol

Well … the reasoning why you said you like him:

- he’s tough
- only a sophomore
- will get better

You’re confused?

It actually sounds like you only like him because he’s close and you’ve heard of him.

If he had the same exact profile and went to Western Michigan I don’t think you’d be happy calling him our best player
I suspect that many here are against Doty precisely because he is a local kid who played at Siena.

This guy and the WVU guy did less in international competition than our guy did. I feel like you’re searching for something to complain about here. At least our guy played in a top league. And we are done at center. Wilson is good. Don’t understand why people think otherwise.

If Doty went to Illinois instead of Syracuse this board would have lost their marbles since he’s from our own backyard.

No one is against Doty because he's a local kid, literally not one person. I'd argue no one is against Doty at all.

Some of us criticized us bringing him in as a starter because we don't think his Siena stats will translate to SU, but bringing in Mahmutovic & Tobiason protects us more there.

He'll do a good job as a 7th man.

All I'll say, if he ends up the 7th man, we are in extremely good shape because it's not going to be easy to keep him off the floor...and if he is playing more it doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing for the team.

The only wing guaranteed to start I think is Tobiason. Could see the other position going a number of ways.
