West Virginia got this international big, and he looks like an immediate impact player. Is our Euro center this good?
As he should. You want $6M? Go pro.Veesaar offered $6 million to transfer by other programs while UNC was willing to pay $4 million. He’s opted for the NBA.

Report suggests Henri Veesaar was pursued by other programs
According to a report, multiple programs attempted to lure Henri Veesaar into the transfer portal.www.yahoo.com
I remember when Michigan used to stack their bench with three of the top HS PF’s seemingly every year, but only one could really get any meaningful playing time. I could never figure out why two or three HS AA’s would go to the same school just for two to ride the pine.I love Michigan and I get that they just won the title, but this makes no sense at all. Why would two top bigs in Estella and Thiam both agree to play at Michigan?! Plus Jalen Reed from LSU. There’s not enough playing time to around for all those centers. On top of that, Aday Mara and Morez Johnson declared for the draft, but there’s a chance that one or both could be back. Its frustrating when we struggled to land just one center. make it make sense.
If he doesn't go in the top 7 of the NBA draft, then he would make more money in college than he would in the pros next season. As he should. You want $6M? Go pro. That is just an asinine value for a college player. Only a program with Eph U money donors would consider paying a kid that much for, most likely, no return on a championship.
But, he is a year closer to free agency. Interesting math calculationsIf he doesn't go in the top 7 of the NBA draft, then he would make more money in college than he would in the pros next season.
That is so messed up to think about. Making more playing in college than on a professional roster? We have truly reached a new level of insanity in college sports. If he doesn't go in the top 7 of the NBA draft, then he would make more money in college than he would in the pros next season.
Stop colleges from paying that much. That is so messed up to think about. Making more playing in college than on a professional roster? We have truly reached a new level of insanity in college sports.
We need to go international for another center and a PG.
I don’t know. I’m Not thrilled with our options. Some of these potential unsigned international prospects look a lot better than the ones we have.We already have…

// THREE centers.
And TWO of them are international.

The backup on the bench and the new recruit and that possible recruit are “always the better option.”I don’t know. I’m Not thrilled with our options. Some of these potential unsigned international prospects look a lot better than the ones we have.
lol, the guy scored 19.6 in the Big Ten, shot 41% from 3 and pulled down 5.4 rebounds a game. And we're too good for him.No. He has to fit into a very particular system that’s spaced out and he has to have the ball in his hands constantly. Hard pass.

I suspect that many here are against Doty precisely because he is a local kid who played at Siena.Well … the reasoning why you said you like him:
- he’s tough
- only a sophomore
- will get better
You’re confused?
It actually sounds like you only like him because he’s close and you’ve heard of him.
If he had the same exact profile and went to Western Michigan I don’t think you’d be happy calling him our best player

If Doty went to Illinois instead of Syracuse this board would have lost their marbles since he’s from our own backyard.Well … the reasoning why you said you like him:

No one is against Doty because he's a local kid, literally not one person. I'd argue no one is against Doty at all.I suspect that many here are against Doty precisely because he is a local kid who played at Siena.
All I'll say, if he ends up the 7th man, we are in extremely good shape because it's not going to be easy to keep him off the floor...and if he is playing more it doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing for the team.No one is against Doty because he's a local kid, literally not one person. Some of us criticized us bringing him in as a starter because we don't think his Siena stats will translate to SU, but bringing in Mahmutovic & Tobiason protects us more there.
He'll do a good job as a 7th man.
The only wing guaranteed to start I think is Tobiason. Could see the other position going a number of ways. All I'll say, if he ends up the 7th man, we are in extremely good shape because it's not going to be easy to keep him off the floor...and if he is playing more it doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing for the team.
