That’s what recruiting is now. A meat market buying talent. I’m sure a bit of whether you like a coach is considered, but money will win out almost always. The question is do we have the funding?
A lot of schools are promising money, but that doesn’t mean they’ll hold up their end of the bargain. They sell these kids a dream, pay them, and then the player doesn’t see the field and learns the hard way. Don’t chase the “quick buck,” like Fran has said before—look at where you’ll actually play and have a real chance to start. That’s what recruiting is now. A meat market buying talent. He should definitely be the prototype for any Head Coaches (Particularly Football and Basketball) we look at going forward. Success at multiple stops, great at identifying and developing talent.Thats what made Saban so good too. Cignetti learned that well. No excuses, they show up every week. It is so refreshing. I wish we had it.

Ohhhh I forgot about that.Is this the kid who spent his entire SU visit posting Purdue stuff?
That sucks
That sucks
I’m sure Fran didn’t!Ohhhh I forgot about that.
We are putting in work, the best thing is that it is only day 1.Was wondering if he would visit. Height concerns aside, he is really good
Yep. I thought that pic was him on campus today but apparently not.We are putting in work, the best thing is that it is only day 1.

Yeah, that’s Calvin Russell in the picture. It looks like we’re in the mix for three quarterbacks right now, and hopefully we can lock up the guys visiting this weekend. If the line of scrimmage improves with better talent and a more experienced coaching staff, I think next season is going to shock a lot of people.Yep. Most of these visits and offers were set in motion weeks ago. Now, we will be adapting and countering to what transpires. We are putting in work, the best thing is that it is only day 1.
Hopefully we can upgrade the overall talent on this roster. I believe this new coaching staff will elevate the players and actually develop them, unlike last season. Most of these visits and offers were set in motion weeks ago. Now, we will be adapting and countering to what transpires.
Yeah someone on TOS just pointed that out, I forgot that he and Calvin know each other well, I didn’t even look at his face! I agree, we have a lot of holes to fill, but if we fill them pretty well, I think we can be pretty good. Like 7-8 win good, IMOYeah, that’s Calvin Russell in the picture. I know everyone keeps saying this is a new era, but this 2026 recruiting class is going to shock a lot of doubters on this forum. We have a lot of players with multiple years of eligibility, which makes me excited about the future—even with the possibility of some guys leaving. I think the priority in the portal should be landing players with multiple years of eligibility who have proven production. I like what we’re doing so far; I just want to see more urgency in addressing the trenches this portal cycle.Yeah someone on TOS just pointed that out, I forgot that he and Calvin know each other well, I didn’t even look at his face!
