Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

Yeah, but that’s clearly not the case. His ultimate goal is the NFL, and you can’t get there without actually playing. He didn’t see the field this year, and your window in college is only so long. Every season spent on the bench is a year you can’t get back, especially when development and game film matter more than anything at the next level.
NFL scouts have plenty of film on him already. If he doesn't get drafted, he will likely get a udfa tryout eventually.

Yea and how many of those guys work out?
If he was more talented than the 2 frosh rb's that jumped him he would have played. It just may be that he doesn't have the talent to make the NFL. Smart move to grab a bag when it was offered. He did have a couple of Ivy league offers coming out of hs.

He was one of the top portal guys last year, but he should’ve chosen a situation where he could actually get on the field and play. Instead, he made the wrong decision, and now he’s back in the portal again. Stubborn choices bring tough consequences.

I just read a post from DraftKings that 31.5% of all college players are in the portal. If true...or even close to being true...that's insane. The system is broken.
Depends on how you look at it.

If you are only counting FBS teams, the math maths. I've seen reports that 4500 players are in the portal. If that is true and your assumptions are:
  1. FBS only
  2. 4500 is correct
  3. Each team has 105 players on its roster,
then 4500 / (105 * 136) = 31.5%. I'm sure that is their calculation.

But I think you have to count FCS teams. Then the math becomes 4500 / (105 * 264) = 16.2%

And that doesn't include players like Marcus Stokes from West Florida - the shiny new toy many folks around here want. West Florida is Division II.

That's my too long way of saying it all depends on your assumptions.

As to your last line, I tend to agree. Many things need to be fixed.

3,000 D2 and D3 kids that were able to enter the portal prior to 1/2/26.

Yup gotta kick the tires on a lot of guys, especially ones who are OK with the situation and fighting for a backup spot or playing time.
I like the multiple years of eligibility hopefully we can get him on campus. Fran knows the quarterback position was our biggest need and he’s ATTACKING it greatly. This kid can play

3 years AND a potential redshirt, and he was good at Mercer (dont watch the SD game), plus everyon there other than MAYBE BC is looking at him as a likely multi year developmental backup.

Our new DB coach Eliano started following him(Clemson kid), maybe there’s a connection. Also, he’s a Georgia kid, guessing Fran recruited him. Maybe there’s a chance.
Didn’t we just hire a Clemson guy as an offensive advisor or something?

One of the top portal guys last year took the 💰 at Oregon and ended up getting jumped on the depth chart by two true freshmen. That’s one of the downsides of the portal—you might get paid, but you can still end up riding the bench. Money only takes you so far; if you want to go pro, you have to get on the field.
i.e. Maarad Watson at Texas, rotational player there, at Syracuse he's the main man with a ton of film

Even sadder are the kids pushed out and who won't find homes, but that's what this system created and will only get worse.

where are all the social justice warriors when we need them.
probably worrying about more important things
